@Rohan I filled up the archive, let me know if anything is missing from that section.

I'm also debating on whether to split it into it's own section.

And I've just tested every theme to make sure none of the colours clash with any of them, and it all holds up okay.

Isn't Third Party represented by Blue?

Indeed. Town Green, Mafia Red, Serial Purple, Cult Pink and Indie Blue.

I think Blue should be used for all of them as they are Third Parties.

Serial technically isn't Third Party, which is another term for Indie. It's easy to get confused with them but the definition of Indie is that they can win with Town or Anti Town, whereas Serial's can only win on their own (and Indies).

I think it's important to make the distinction as not enough people balance for Serial being anti town, and throw it in there when it's either wholly uneccsary or massively underpowered.

Pro Town/Anti Town indies aren't really a thing by definition, but rather new alignments of Indie or varients on the Town/Scum win con, so I'll probably leave them out completely until they can be factorised (a Pro-Town indie could be listed instead as Town w/ Condition for example).

Oh, and Cult is definitely its own scum faction, like Mafia are. It's just a Mafia team that can recruit players instead of killing them.

I don't mind drawing up a guide to reflect all this, I have one similar on OPB (and Rots done one in OJ).

But the definition of Third Party says that any factions that do not come under Town or Mafia are called Third Party. It's a very broad term. Plus I don't think we should add too many distinctions and colors in the official parts. It would only confuse people. In games people can tweak it however they want.

Ah feel free to do that. Might clear up some confusion.

I'd go as far as to say that that's too broad a term. Third Party definition should be anything that isn't Pro Town or Anti Town (as third party is essentially just another word for Independent). Cult and Serial are both Anti Town, as both can be used as the lone scum faction (a game does not need to include a Mafia despite the name). I feel like the 3rd Party definition has been taken from this, but with Pro Town taken to mean Town (which is fair, as the only Pro Town faction is Town) and Anti Town to mean Mafia (which is somewhat understandable, but not technically all-encompassing).

When I get on my laptop I'll post it in here for you to have a read over. I understand not wanting to overdo the colourings and whatnot but I think it's an important thing to get down early. Last thing we want is to say "oh, now you have all this down we're changing the terminology here" after people have already learnt it one way.

I agree, best to do it.

Is this in widespread use or something? Like why not Orange for Cult? :happymm

I believe it's fairly common. At least, that's how it's been everywhere I've been at (that does colour-code alignments) from when I started on FTB. As for why it's Pink and not Orange or whatever I'm not too sure. I guess it's because Pink is a fairly similar colour to Red (so is Orange, admittedly) and Cult is fundamentally the same as a Mafia except it recruits players rather than killing them. Cultafia, I imagine, would be an Orange colour, given that it combines Mafia (Red) and Cult (Pink), though given that Cultafia is pretty much a Bastard construct and not something that is easily balanced at all, I figured leaving that out of the list would be best. We can always add to it if need be.

Same with Serial as purple. I'd guess that's because it's fairly similar to an Independent in that they're on their own, but is actually Anti-Town like Mafia, so mixing Blue (3rd Party) with Red (Mafia) results in Purple (Serial). The problem with that is Blue has also been used to denote Town, with Green being used for 3rd Parties, so who really knows with that one.
