I'm not going to lie. It looks super amazing. I hope the wait is well worth it.

LAGUNA IS THE BEST. HE IS NUMBER ONE. HE IS 11/10 DORK I WOULD HANG OUT AND GO ON ADVENTURES AROUND THE WORLD WITH. Plus he ages really nicely and him with grey hair is like hnnggggg. And his entire story is just... man. Laguna should be a walking shell of a man. He should be an emotional wreck. But no. He's just the same guy as ever. This is why I love him.

And yeah, Auron is amazing.

 

People have been asking for a remake for many years. And SE wasn't going to give until they realised just how much everyone wanted it. After Crisis Core and Advent Children Complete, they were going to leave the series alone. Is it milking the series? Debatable. Is the remake a bad thing? As far as interviews from SE go, which have been from people who worked on the original, there is nothing that indicates it being bad. But the proof will be in the pudding. After the remake, they should leave VII alone.

It best be amazing or I might kms.

 

Given everything that can be said about the game, this is a fairly accurate statement.

 

Honestly, with the reception of the first game, as well as SE's genuine ability to make great games, anything less than the quality of the original will be a disappointment. Being superior in visual and sound design is a given, but the most difficult aspect to nail will definitely be the gameplay. The only reason the original was overworld when moving between towns was due to the game being too massive to fit on a cartridge. To save space. But if the game is anything like FFXV, being able to ride your motorcycle between Midgar and other places, that would be fantastic.

 

Yes, I think some people are too worried or being overly critical when they talk about their doubts about the game. I'm honestly expecting good things from this. I hope they consider expanding the story in way they were unable to in the original release. I want to see new side quests, I want to info and scenarios that tie into the various side games that the franchise has created.

 

The discrepancies between Crisis Core and the original game will hopefully be corrected (e.g. Genesis being present at the Nibelheim Mako Reactor and the one who sets off Sephiroth in CC vs Sephiroth spiraling into madness by himself in the original) in the remake. If they could put the background lore and history of the world into the spotlight a little more, that should clear up some things. One of the developers did say they were changing bits and pieces of the story to suit it more to the modern audience, so I think what I said above is what he was indirectly addressing.

 

Yesss. I'm a big background lore/history freak - this is why I love the FF13 series even though they were executed so badly. I really hope they do this to be honest.

I'm really, really going to have to play FF7 at some point. My best friend was the go to person for it, but I never managed to actually complete the game myself.

But definitely complete it sometime! It's so much fun, and it should actually make the prospects of the remake much greater, considering the scale of some boss fights.

 

Oh, don't worry about that lmao! I watched my friend play it enough I know all the story. :3 It's just actually getting around to playing it myself.

He's annoying at times in the plot though +.+

It's not a bad thing but there's other titles that need TLC toooooo.

Indeed! The series should always be moving forward, and there are other FF titles that deserve remasters.

 

Well, the Ruby Dragon mini game is a bit ehhhh, but speaking strictly lore wise and personality/background he's one of the most solid characters in FF8. I'd honestly kill for a side game with him in it. I heard they actually cut some of the Laguna content out of the game to make room, and that really makes me said. The flashbacks were a really cool mechanic in showing the history and building up the lore of the world imo.
