I want to get everyone's opinions on this subject.

Personally, I used to like Seinen better, but the inconsistency in the quality of many of them later on aren't for me anymore, even if a lot of Shonen sucks.

    Musings that's a hard choice.
Whereas seinen generally deals with more mature characters, themes and ideas shonen often encorpates more elements of mythical creatures or fantasy to fit in with the demographic whereas seinen tends to be suited in the real world with realm issues.

I like and dislike common elements of both, although naturally the lines can tend to blur

It goes both ways. Whilst Shounen manga have a more common format, obviously not all of them follow this format that has become more common-place and, the quality ranges from bad to great. Likewise, Seinen can still have somewhat of a common ground, but it seems to be broader than Shounen, however, it still stands that the quality ranges from bad to great.

Yeah, Seinen tackles plenty of themes pretty successfully. That's probably why Vagabond was so good right before the Farming Arc, since Inoue focused on themes a lot. I notice Naruto writes themes a lot too, but falls flat most of the time.

Un. I agree with this +.+

Adding to this : Shounen at times takes the easy way out with it's plot devices whereas seinen often handles plot devices or twists generally more successfully.

I guess a younger audience is more likely to go with the flow then adult men?

Yeah and darker themes too, whereas usually shounen isn't as dark, not to say it won't have deaths, etc.

Yeah, after all the shounen demographic is targeted towards kids/teens and the seinen demographic targets towards adults. Doesn't mean that they can't find enjoyment out of both demographics tho and some seinen are like edgy shounen, and some shounen are almost like seinen.

    Yeah definitely

Definitely, in some ways seinen is like the next level above shounen it expands on the ideas and themes in the teen boy demographic

I'd say I'm split, I dig quite a bit of stuff from both demographics.

More of a seinen type of guy myself, since I enjoy light-hearted and dark stuff, shonen's use the same formula majority of the time, so not really into it as much.

I do enjoy shonen here and there though.

    Seinen easily.

I truly don't think you can enjoy Shounen anymore past the age of 18. The constant repeated formula that Shounen's provide is made to cater to the younger audience who will be more forgiving towards it. Once you reach a certain age you can just anticipate what's already going to happen in the story of a Shounen, and at that point it's just not entertaining anymore.

Seinen's are just usually more realistic with its more darker themes, which can make it unpredictable unlike Shounens.

All in all, I find that Seinen brings more entertainment factors to the table than Shounen does.

Usually Seinen, though there are some Shonens like HunterxHunter that put themselves well above almost any other series.

It's like you've only ever read the ones that follow the same generic format. Check out Claymore, for example.
