Ashgate #2 - Unknown Awakening.

As i head after her i try to watch and see her movements through the trees

 

Tyria had a considerable amount of distance on you already. You shudder to think what would have happened if you had decided to sleep in a little longer. You see her red figure dive out of sight about 40m ahead of you, and quickly move to pursue her. As you start to cover ground, you spot her weaving through the trees - Umbra tied and flung over her back.

You could cover more ground quicker if you tried to use your Blink rune. Will you risk it?

I call out Umbras name as I use the blink rune

 

Despite trying to rationalise your actions before going to sleep, you found yourself getting attached to the little horror.

"Umbra!"

You blinked forward.

It was jarring - not what you were used to at all - and it only covered a small distance. You blinked again, trying to keep your footing. You found yourself closing in on Tyria. You can see a clearing ahead of her. At least it would be good for getting a visual, but you wondered if there was anything to be done to gain the strategic advantage in a situation like this.

I continue to run around forward taking mental moments of the locations

 

(Think of it as .. Distortion? I think, from Witcher 3. You can influence people slightly with it, making negotiations easier.)

As you take in your surroundings, you notice two paths. To the left - an obscured one, hidden by bushes and low hanging branches - and to your right is a path upwards into the tree tops themselves.

I pause for a moment before heading left, Tyria probably would head through bush cover.

 

I consider using my Feather Fall to bring her down the moment I get sight again.

 

You turn sharply to the left, and dive low behind the bush cover. Tyria ran straight out into the clearing. You took out your PD for a moment - This was the extraction point. Had she really planned on leaving you behind and taking Umbra to Ashgate herself? For what end? To brand you a traitor? You shook the possibilities out of your head. With a quick flick of your wrist and index finger, you attempted to trip her up using Feather Fall. It wasn't the intended use for the spell, but it at least had an immediate effect. Tyria was surprised, and turned back into a bird - dropping Umbra.

What will you do now? You need to close the distance between yourself and Tyria - fast.

In a desperate flurry I try to use blink n.agai

 

With all of your concentration and power - you attempt a series of blinks to close the distance. Tyria let out a shrill cry, and as you looked up - you could see her preparing to swoop down and attack you. As she dived - you blinked again to evade her. She landed on the ground and turned back into her human form. You were now in between Umbra and Tyria.

"What are you doing Tyria?" I shout as I run towards Umbra

 

"The humans may be able to contain us, but they've never been able to control us." she said, sneering. "And then there is you." She started to advance on your position. You readied yourself. "I won't let you get back to Ashgate alive." she drew your Combat Knife from the bag around her waist.

I smirk and stand my ground

 

You smirked and stood there, refusing to move an inch. Tyria shot you a look that was almost pitying. "Really, Caretaker? You don't know what you're dealing with."

You inhaled slowly. "Really now, kid?"

"K-kid?!" she sputtered, "Don't you know who you're talking to? I am the immortal. I am the eternal. A never ending cycle of Death and Rebirth!"

You yawned theatrically. "It was hard to capture you without killing you. Killing you is infinitely easier, Phoenix."
