Why are the Halo CE and Halo 2 HSH segmented speedruns so fun to watch?

 

Their campaigns were so unique and well done, that seeing them done quickly is just kind of like a gaming timelapse. At least that's how I think of speedruns. Whereas I spend roughly 3-5 hours usually on halo 2 runs, seeing it down so quick is just fascinating. CE takes me longer cause the game makes me paranoid.

Watching them do all that insane stuff is just fun indeed. I can't even imagine doing a Halo 2 or even Halo CE level on Legendary in just 10 minutes (Armoury does not count). The fastest I've ever run Halo CE and 2 was in 4 hours on normal. For some reason, I find Halo 2 on Heroic, Normal, Easy actually easier to run through than the corresponding difficulties on Halo CE. But Halo 2 on Legendary is just torture. It's by far the most difficult Halo title on Legendary. And yeah, CE does make me paranoid as well (at least on the Flood levels).

 

Legendary on 2 is just insane. The instakill snipers, brutes raging at the sight of you, damn near instantaneous melees from every elite, suddenly hearing three grenades stick to you, and worst of all the needler spam. Whenever I move to fast into a room and hear all those needlers going off, I can't help but let out a tiny little shriek...

And that's just the covenant. THEN we get to the flood...

 

I'm so hyped about new Spiderman game and new God of War game

 

The things I fear most in Halo 2 on Legendary are dual wielding Sangheili Ultras (be it Needler or Plasma rifle), Jackal snipers, and a swarm of Drones with Needlers (way deadlier than a swarm of Drone with just plasma pistols).

I actually find the Flood in Halo 2 to be easier to deal with than the ones in CE. Perhaps it's because the player characters move much faster compared to CE and you can actually run away from an engagement (especially when playing as the Arbiter or if you have the Envy skull as John). You can also one-shot Flood with the energy sword or any head-shot capable weapon (well at least the unshielded ones). In fact, I actually enjoy that elevator and that one locked room on The Oracle. In Halo CE now, the player character's slow movement and the more feral swarm tactics of the Flood are actually more troublesome for me.

 

Really? Rockets in hallways aside, I found 2's flood just as hard as CE's. Those massive jumps that often came from behind screwed me over a lot of the time, the infection forms we also more annoying to me in 2 cause of how numerous they were, and just how freaking amazing of drivers they were too. In that mission in the burnt out library as the arbiter I kept dying over and over to things like being sniped by a flood driven tank or having the spectre I left behind suddenly come flying out at me, then that one on the turret before the door... Compared to my (equally deadly to me though) rather incompetent marine drivers they seemed godly.

Some of this may be caused by my xbox controller being rather old and kind of sticky on the inside, took effort to get the left one to go anywhere but forward.

 

You know, Halo 2 Anniversary on Legendary can actually be easy (relatively easy compared to the original). This is because you have access to the Bandanna skull which you can unlock on Halo CE Anniversary's Silent Cartographer. Legendary with infinite ammo/grenades is always welcome.
