Most sane historians agree that the bible was compiled by as many as a few dozen people (all men). And these men would have had less knowledge of the world around them than a modern day preteen with access to television and internet.

Yes. People still think the crap that's written in holy books (be it the holy books of the Abrahamic faiths or the Vedas & Upanishads or whatever holy book) are the literal words of deities and not the writings of flesh & blood humans such as us.
