But that is still the same style. It would take much more than just making the faces more round or vice versa. I'll take Yu-Gi-Oh! as an example:
1) This is early YGO manga, look at the wavy hair, huge hands and overall round and bouncy and cartoonish design for Yugi

2) This is the later YGO style


THIS ^ is how it looks when the the style of a mangaka actually changes. It went from cartoonish to more realistic, from bouncy and round to tall and sharp. The character proportions, the hairstyle depictions, everything is different. It's still the same character but it's different.

Compared to this, the changes made to DC's style are more of gentle tweaks than actual departure from one style to another.

I've seen every YGO since the season 0 (which wasnt about card games at all) to the newest one which is in cyber space and trust me, 5D's is on par with the original. The bikes are idiotic, yes, but it is absolutely amazing in it's atmosphere, characters and overall story. Legit had tears when it ended much like the original. It's a good series despite the dumb premise.
