I've seen 50 episodes of 5ds and it's still shit lol

 

Eh, I'm chock-full of em. Most are totally outdated now though since I retired about 3 years ago xd

 

Why? I was hooked on Episode 1.

 

i didn't like motorcycle dueling. I didn't love the fact that yugi and judai were mostly likely dead. Yusei himself felt shallow. Nothing to grip my attention so i dropped lol.

Well, Yugi and Judai being dead is kind of inevitable in general since they aren't immortals. The series takes place in a distant future so I don't see how that's an issue in any way since it's doing it's own thing but if you want Yugi and Judai they actually do appear in a 1 hour special where Yusei meets Yugi and Judai and they all duel together against one of the major villains.

Yusei himself was one of the most developed characters in YGO franchise in general tho. Sure, he's not as interesting as Atem but then again the latter is a freaking ancient pharaoh soul with magic powers so that's not really a big deal to be second to him. Yusei is far superior to Judai both in terms of personality (Judai only stopped being a careless clown after s3) and competence (the guy is a martial artist, a hacker, a mechanic and a thief) so he is instantly capable of making a lot more diverse and interesting scenarios than the ones we've seen before.

I can understand it coming off as uninteresting but objectively speaking, it had good characters and a good story. I consider it on par with the original and far superior to GX.
