Who the f*ck treks on a mountain in flip-flops? That's just so stupid.

True, there are tribal people who trek on mountains in flip-flips and even barefoot, but those people grew up there and are tougher than nails.

Honestly... There should be guards at the foot of the mountain collecting a fee from potential trekkers and barring people who look ill-equipped.

That's actually a brilliant idea and I'd gladly volunteer myself to do it. Maybe I should suggest this idea to the national park authorities.

There are 2 problems with that:

You cannot put the guard posts at every single route, as they interconnect and cross, some people go prepared for easy routes but turn to the dangerous ones somewhere, and there is no real way to watch over all of them

Secondly, it would bring queues in various places on the route, we don't need that as it can be dangerous and take away part of fun that comes with trekking
