Yes, it was indeed an homage to Red October. A lot of TCW episodes have references to military films set in the World War I & II and Cold War period. George Lucas and Dave Filoni are both obsessed with World War II films in particular.

 

I even watched some of the boruto anime even though it's mostly shit but I thought it was cute to see Naruto and Sasuke as dads and how awkward they are at being fathers. Kind of stopped watching it though because of how bored I got of it and just most shonen in general

The fact that OP is based on Pirates and was still popular enough to beat both Ninjas and Saiyans that's greatness in my eyes. Pretty sure no kid ever dreamed of being a pirate compared to Ninjas which are from Japan lol

also they went on with boruto which is barely selling 25% of what naruto sold and surving due to its anime which is abysmal which tells you hardcore fanboys will latch to something even if gets stale

for sentimental values since fanbase watched them struggle for family they are obviously going to enjoy time they are going to have with family
on other hand you can enjoy new generation on the mission too bit the amount of blatant horse shit they keep throwing despite being a fan you know it makes zero sense and shoddy writing

That's a purely subjective anecdote. Most people would find pirates a lot more recognizable and in contrast to Ninja which have very little to do with that which is presented in Naruto. It's a really weak excuse which doesn't really change the fact that the dominance of OP is very much a localized phenomenon. Furthermore seeing how the newer generations of manga fans are shifting from shounen to more seinen series out of the bat (Tokyo Ghoul is incredibly popular with younger teens) I don't think the climate that gave rise to OP in Japan will find itself reviving in the west.

All of this was unnecessary though as your claim that OP owns SJ was pretty much just you fanboying from the start. Any series, no matter how influential, can and will get dropped if the company decides to. SJ won't do it so long as Oda is a good boy giving them tons of money.
