Funimation is not available in my region and crunchyroll has also purged most of the titles in my area due to "licensing limitations"

the same argument comes from Boruto fans. They read it on Mangaplus becoz it pays the author and i am like no most revenue comes from ads doesn't matter if you read it there or not.
Its a kind of elitism that most people who don't buy manga, Merch or Anime DVD/BD which obviously helps author acts they are above by paying others $10 to watch anime on paid sites.

In India obviously government doesn't give a **** if you are watching it illegally for free becoz they are already sucking us dry

I think they're not doing all that on purpose. I believe it has something to do with the mass normalisation of anime and it's aftermath. For example Neon Genesis was a sacred anime loved by all but when it started to stream on Netflix it's fan base increased but a whole influx of normies wreaked havoc in the fandom.

 

yeah i can see how that works. For example Naruto is in no way bad anime/manga but the more it became mainstream the more shitty its fanbase became. I mean Boruto is surviving on that.

People who don't care if there is plot or not and will eat the garbage that studio is feeding them until it has the name Naruto tagged in it
