My mom's younger brother (my favourite uncle, by the way) got a new pup at the insistence of his wife.

See, here be some context for why this is special:
She was initially against getting a Labrador pup back in 2006 and said she would not care for it, leaving it to her husband and son. His name was Tuffy. He died in 2019 and she was the one who took it the hardest. My uncle and cousin didn't cry much, but she was inconsolable. She said she would get another pupper (regardless of breed) and name him Tuffy II in his honour. Then the pandemic happened and . . . you know. We tried to dissuade them from getting a new pupper because that takes work and dedication and energy. The first two are no issue. It's the energy bit. She has scary high blood pressure a blood disorder that leaves her in what I can only describe as a constant state of anaemia and she's nearing 60 years of age. We told her not to get a new doggo because of her advancing age and health issues.

Well, they went ahead and did it anyway. And she's keeping her vow to the late Tuffy I, me thinks. My cousin wants to name him Milo, but she's adamant on Tuffy II.

    This meme comes to mind:

Well, replace dad with mom, and it's more accurate.

She was married at 15 and had a kid at 16, dude. It was the late 1950s and early 1960s. India wasn't exactly enlightened at the time when it came to marriage of girl children.

    :okhand

If you can, try 777 Charlie. It's about an abused dog finding a new owner in a depressed orphan dude. That's it. But it's good.

It's based on a real case. And, yeah, the movie is great. Watch it with a mug full of Hindutva and Hindi supremacist tears.

Man, that movie was such a nice break for our film/TV industry's slew of mindless Indian police wank-fests, especially that Shantham Papam crap that glorifies custodial torture.

  8. I'm jealous and angry at the fact that by the time I do end up somewhere they sell these I'll be too old and uninterested to buy them

Same thing happened when my local comic shop opened and was selling DC and Marvel anthologies well past my superhero phase days

  9. Watched girl who leapt through time last night

Nice movie but weird ending, guess it's always like that with this director (same one who made Belle)

I can buy it but I don't, I can't justify to myself paying 50 euros for figurine which I'll just look at, I'd rather spend it on something else

In 2011 my cousin was on a trip to Syria (before the war) and he found a very cool sword, which he bought. When he was returning, he hid the sword among the big utensils and ladles used by the cooks of pilgrims and tourists, and it passed the security like a breeze xD
