Forgot to ask, they didn't say any limited amount of warranty repairs right? Just within the fixed time.

Yup as it should be, unless they determined it was like user-inflicted damage from like tampering or whatever iirc.

BREAKING: Mayumi Tanaka, voice actress of Monkey D. Luffy announces that she will retire at the end of One Piece.
She has been dubbing Luffy for half of her 44 years of Voice Acting Career. She recently said that her Anime Voice Acting Career wants to end with Luffy.

    Seems fair tbh.

    @Gobb

I know it's a bit of a shit idea to go from a GTX 1650M to an RTX 3050M (both 4 GB GDDR6) at this point. Believe me: I do. I know it'd be more worth it to upgrade to at the very least a 6 GB RTX GPU right now (from a GTX 1650M).

    TL;DR version:
Is it worth it to get this RTX 3050 laptop right now? Or should I just buy my wife a proper work laptop right now, and save up for a future gaming laptop model (by then upper middle class laptops will probably have 6-8 GB VRAM at very affordable prices) 3-4 years down the line? Because I'm more than willing to get by with my current laptop (which is doing just dandy in the games I'm currently playing).

    ---

    Now consider the following:
    1. The laptop model in question is available right now for roughly the same price as an Acer Aspire 5 or Asus Vivobook X15 business laptops with i5-1235U/i5-1240P and iGPU only (both with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB NVMe SSD) and offers a slightly better CPU (Ryzen 5 5600H).
    2. It is from Croma (their Wikipedia page) who are offering an extended warranty; they will only take it and get it serviced through official channels, without me having to worry about anything; store is also close to home; and I do have excellent customer care experiences with them (only their in-store billing experience is slow as ****, but they at least give tea & snacks while you wait xD). I also have reward points with them that I can redeem (I have bought from them with my existing customer id four mobile phones, a tablet, and a television). They are also throwing in a very high quality laptop bag that'll probably last longer than the laptop, which others are not offering.
    3. Could help when Halo Infinite finally gets DLSS 2.0 in a future update (though RTX 3050 already does 1.5 times as well as GTX 1650M in this game); also for this one game I'm waiting on (which will definitely come with it, considering it's sequel already has DLSS 2.1 support).
    4. The slightly reduced battery life is absolutely no issue for me (7 hours versus 8.5 hours for the Aspire 7 on a full charge). Battery life is more important to the wife anyway (who will take my Aspire 7 if I take this RTX 3050 laptop).

    ---

My only questions are as such:
    1. Will DLSS help in say . . . upscaling 720p or 900p to look like 1080p or 1440p? And will it cause any problems like artefacts or game-crashing?
    2. Is it worth it to move from one 4 GB GPU to another 4 GB GPU just for DLSS (albeit the chip is 30-35% more powerful even without DLSS in the equation)?
    3. Is it also worth it . . . considering the CPU is also only 30% more powerful (albeit better in terms of longer term performance, as it won't throttle itself when gaming for long times as a U-series CPU would).

Even the manga's end is nowhere in sight.

I don't use DLSS myself, I don't really like how it looks. It can have similar blurriness like with the various anti-aliasing options available. I would also say that you may sometimes see certain artifacts. In motion it's probably not too bad though and its ok. Depends on if you would find certain things in an upscaled image noticeable and annoying or not. It's getting better. I don't think I've ever heard of DLSS crashing games.

I feel like it depends on what games you play and how much VRAM they even use with the settings you've got. Although, I'd imagine 4gb is starting to be limiting even at 1080p. You might be best getting the wife a new one and then just hope the 4000 series GPUs really up the VRAM on mobile chipsets. Most games currently might be ok, but sooner or later, games will just be for the newer consoles, so will probably be even worse for smaller vram cards. DLSS will help, but not all games have it anyway, and if they do, it might be a shittier older version.

I guess you gotta weigh up a few things.
    1) Cost difference between your wife's own new laptop and a new gaming one, and the performance uplift and if it's worth it
    2) If the performance uplift is going to be sufficient for the lifetime of the laptop

It might actually make the most sense for you to get the new laptop. Assuming you need to upgrade again in a few years, as would the wife, you can just do the same thing and give her the older one and get a newer gaming one. So you'd actually be wining - some extra cost for a performance boost, instead of being stuck with the same degrading thing, and she gets a new thing for work. When it'd make more seen for her to use your old one, which I imagine for normal work is snappy and fine and you win and get a boost for gaming.
