He hasn't had a drink in 45+ years. He has non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

    Also,
He has diabetes + NASH and thus suffers from protein (specifically albumin) loss via urine. He needs a low carb + high protein diet, including eggs or other albumin source (such as albumin care protein drink).

  3. Started reading Arkham Asylum today and I got 20-30 pages in before I closed it and said nope this is lame. It's hailed as one of the greatest classic Batman stories of all time which influenced the concept of the asylum for all future media and while some of the influence is there the comic is beyond annoying.

First off, it's riddled with cliches of someone wanting to be this edgy counter-cultural artist that the comic couldn't wait 10 pages before it started taking shots at catholic faith (I have been basically an agnostic for years now but I still find this irritating because it serves no other purpose than to shock whatever conservative reader might have picked it up) all the while being filled by occult imagery for extra edginess (This isn't a Constantine story it's literally just dropped randomly for the sake of it). But I ignored it initially because ok, whatever, but then it got to the point of the story praising freakin Aleister Crowley while throwing shades at people who rightfully critiqued him and I just closed the book and don't plan on finishing it. This sort of insults to my former beliefs and culture along with glorifying figures that I despise isn't something that I'm willing to endulge let alone in a freakin Batman story that shouldn't have had anything to do with these matters.

But me being a snowflake isn't the only reason because the story is Batman in name only. The idea is the Joker and other inmates take control of the asylum and keep hostages and request Batman to show up. Now, instead of Batman doing his thing and actually saving people he indulges the Joker all the while witnessing hostages being shot and does nothing. Then we get to this "brilliant" scene where he indulges Joker by going under a psychoanalysis where he pretty much reveals that his parents have been murdered at which point he might as well reveal his identity. There are other annoying aspects of the story that make zero sense even at the time when it was written (30 years ago) and the whole thing is let's take Batman and make it into an edgy psychedelic horror (which isn't really scary just creepy looking) where Batman doesn't act like a Superhero but instead just talks to his villains and plays along. From what I've heard the ending is just as bizzare and out of character.

Honestly this book killed my interest in superhero comics again. It's either mediocre retreading of old territory or edgy out of place things like this. There is stuff in between but it's rare to find it. So yea, I bought a Batman comic, got something completely different and am right now selling it in mint condition to whoever wants to buy it cuz I find it too irritating to finish.

Tldr: A Batman classic triggered me. Yay.

  4. The art on the other hand is phenomenal, the idea of exploring the asylum in this horror way is fascinating and the backround of its creator is also great. Note I'm not calling it bad as a work of art, I just consider it insufferable due to the author's need to put his biases so blatantly in a story that would've been fine without it and it just doesn't work as a coherent Batman story. It's a shame because the artistic qualities that it has are the reason I bought it.

Felt the same way about The Ultimates run of Marvel. Man, was it ******* bad. Made the exact same mistakes. And, unlike this one, art was nothing to write home about. Just edgelord bullshit.

    Bruh go read Daredevil :huh

  8. To make sure I was being fair I read the rest of the book online (didn't want to change the mint condition) and it got worse. Batman kills killer croc, is physically overpowered by a random doctor (he was wounded but still) and approved of another character killing said doctor because "he got what he deserved". 10/10 characterization bruh

    The Ultimates Captain America:
Surrender? Surrender? You think this A on my forehead stands for France?

    :vomit:

    Real Captain America:
Talks about how brave the French Resistance was and about how they inspired him (rather than the other way around). Also says one of the most inspiring lines ever: The French government may have surrendered, but the people didn't.
