Fair. However, the classic omelette is healthier.

    I do, actually.

I wish you could just give the company x money directly and directly download a high quality high bitrate version from their own server/website.

But that would be too easy, and not as profitable as giving us a license to temporarily own a product which they can take away at any motherfukking time.

    Goodnight, peanut butter & jelly.

They could still sell the licence out though to stream services, it would just be another alternative. A DRM-free digital distribution would be very nice for when discs eventually get killed off.

Yeah... I don't think these corpos think like that. Someone like Glitch? May be. But not the likes of Netflix and such.

Sometimes it may not even be the game optimization itself that is the issue, but the DRM software being used that is fukking with performance. Sony and Capcom are infamous for this.

RE8 (Capcom) and Halo Wars 2 (Microsoft) pirated versions run smoother than officially purchased copies, for example, because the former lack the DRM software that fukks with performance.

I have also experienced the difference in Dishonored 2 myself. The DRM-free copy I bought on GOG runs much smoother than the Steam version which has Denuvo.

Sony doesn't have any drm on their games AFAIK

Yeah, capcom had a really bad implementation of their own DRM iirc, it wasn't denuvo but they layered their own one (might have been anti-mod or anti-cheat) which fucked performance. At least they do remove denuvo from their games usually after like 1-3 years. But I feel like Japs really don't understand that seeing as they're notoriously tech illiterate or they think it's good because they're super into "IP protection" or copyright or whatever so probably misunderstand it.

Sony with their SecuROM was the one who set the trend of severely restrictive DRM implementation in PC games. Sony is the literal father of DRM softwares which fukk over user experiences and performance in PC games.

They layer both anti-mod and anti-cheat into their games.

On Game Debate, there was an inside joke that Capcom implemented anti-mod bs because they were sick and tired of nude filter mods xD
