What Gobb said. Performance will improve a bit only for those running on higher end hardware. For those with mid-range hardware, it will still be donkey piss.

 

I remember when that happened with the Crysis Remastered series. But they eventually fixed it with an update and actually improved performance as well. Not sure how they're going to resolve it with a game this technically demanding. Fixing textures in a semi-open-world game is one thing. But MH is a different beast altogether, based on what you've told me.

Galaxy A26, A36, A56 announced. A client of mine attended their announce event, by the way.

Back in 2022, these motherfukkers used the excuse "we gave the A33 an IP67 rating, so we removed the 3.5mm headphone jack" (while still leaving it on the Xcover series with IP68 and military grade durability, which proved their bs). Now they're giving 3.5mm headphone jack on both the A26 and A36, while still giving IP67 and making the frames 0.5 to 0.7 mm slimmer than their predecessors. Oh, and the A36 is the same price as its predecessors, with no price hike (ditto for the A56) while the A26 might see only a tiny hike (negligible).

This proves all along that they could give 3.5 mm jack (tear-downs have also confirmed sufficient space for one) while still retaining IP67 and without further jacking up the prices. So what fukken changed this time?

A56 has no price hike and overall is a slight improvement over the A55. There is an up to 20% improvement on both CPU and GPU, better memory controller, system is even more butter smooth, cameras have improved low light performance, runs cool (and the A55 itself was already one of the coolest running devices of 2024), they're using the same modem as on the A55 but have likely improved the antennas, 45 Watt charging vs 25 Watt on the A55, display gets much brighter in both manual and auto modes. Some sources claim a memory card slot (shared) while some say it is absent (it is likely market-dependent). May also get wi-fi 6e, as the much cheaper A26 has it in its specs sheet.

A36 is not really much of an improvement over the A35. The only improvement should be in 4G/5G reception, thanks to the Qualcomm X62 modem. Otherwise, it has an SOC with near-identical CPU performance to the Exynos 1380 in the A35 and A26. However, the A36 is better on GPU, runs cooler (though the A35 was itself already a somewhat cool-running device) and throttles much less, hopefully has e-sim support in more or all regions (not yet confirmed), and also sees 45 Watt charging support vs 25 Watt on the A35, display gets much brighter in both manual and auto modes. May also get wi-fi 6e, as the cheaper A26 has it in its specs sheet. There is no confirmation yet on the UFS version in the A36. It hopefully gets UFS 3.1, but based on what I've seen so far it seems to be still UFS 2.2 (which is disappointing). At the very least they've hopefully improved the memory controller (because the A35 had slower read-write speeds than its predecessor - the A34). Camera set-up apparently is decent enough, but camera software is laggy (which will be fixed with a patch in end of March).

PS: A36 has no 3.5mm headphone jack, after all. Sorry.

A26 is actually a huge improvement over the A25. It does see a slight price hike (tiny, really). But now it actually has an IP67 rating, hybrid stereo speakers, much brighter display, and hopefully a move to grey inlay antenna cables instead of gold flex cables (which would be necessitated by the IP67 rating and hopefully improves signal reception strengths). As for the SOC and headphone jack: it gets the modified Exynos 1280e (bleh) for Latin America, but Exynos 1380 (good) for the rest of the world. LATAM might get a 3.5mm headphone jack (not confirmed) while the global version may not (also not 100% confirmed). Sorry about the mistake earlier. Also, LATAM will get only wi-fi 5, while the global variant might get wi-fi 6/6e. There will be no esim support for any version. Charging is still capped at 25 Watt. There is also no confirmation yet of a vapour chamber in the A26.

All things considered, however, the A35 might still be a better deal than the A26; since you get the same Exynos 1380, a confirmed and well-functioning vapour chamber, a cutout for the selfie cam instead of U-notch, thinner bezels, confirmed wi-fi 6 and well-tuned antennas for strong 4G/5G signal, and tested stupidly good stereo speakers (albeit hybrid) for the price range. You can find them these days for roughly the same as the expected release price of A26 (even less in some places). The only negative I can think of would be two years less software support compared to A26. However, you will still get OS updates and patches till 2029, which is more than reasonable.
