I also didn't expect the idea of Arisu to use the shock from the pending state, which was pretty smart.

Chapter 38 was good. With Usagi's success, this has spurred Kuina to try the same thing. Kuina played the angle of them basically being doomed to lose, so wanted some martial arts revenge to not die a loser. Surprisingly, Maki was successfully goaded, despite Uta repeatedly protesting and pointing out Kuina's obvious bait.

So Arisu was the one confident that Maki would fall for the bait, due to speculating that he's "tired of just surviving" and wanting stimulation and seems that Kyuma reinforces this idea. With this, Kuina successfully has drawn him away even at the potential cost of losing, allowing Arisu and Niragi an opening to win. Seemed like a double KO to me, but apparently Kuina was marked as the loser and Maki the winner.

Arisu and Niragi made their move after that, both dashing for Kyuma and Uta respectively. Well, that is convenient but a smart move. Their rushing had bother Kyuma and Uta confused, but they doubled down on guarding the base. Arisu was unavailable and forgot to go back, but used this to his advantage to also shock Kyuma, taking him out too.

Now it's just Niragi and Uta, but now Niragi's imminent death is being brought up. He spat blood into Uta's face, blinding her enough to touch the base. This brought the points much closer with the players are 32500 and Residents at 35500. The final item's value is 2500, so they would still be behind at 35000 if they got it. Uta and Kyuma are confident in their win and that the players won't be able to make up the difference.

 

I am under the impression that Tatta gave him the points he had, he had like over 10,000 points if I recall correctly.

Chapter 39 was good. 15 minutes remain. It's rather annoying seeing Arisu just give up. Sure it seems hopeless, but there's no point not trying if you are going to die anyway, right? Kuina's frustration is understandable. Is Niragi is going to sacrifice himself for a win?

Arisu apologised to Usagi, whose arm is now broken. Usagi has asked for five minutes alone, then she'll spend the rest of the time with Arisu. It seemed like Niragi was reflecting on himself, and almost was going to cooperate, then decided he was a warped creep and attacked Usagi. He held her down intending to rape her, and then Arisu came in and kneed him in the face. Very satisfying. Now Arisu is just beating the absolute shit out of him. In the meanwhile, Kuina got the last item.

Arisu took Usagi back to their base, and thanked Tatta for the moment with the Lamborghini. Arisu met Kyuma at the sea. Arisu confirms to Kyuma that he has given up, and tried asking for answers before dying, but Kyuma refused, indicating he's lost interest. Arisu requested a handshake out of respect, or so he says.. and yup, it was a trick to handshake, Arisu got 14700 points from Tatta, and won the battle. The points reversed 35500 for the players and 35000 for the Residents.

 

Yeah, I didn't consider that is how Tatta would've given his points to Arisu. I thought he just gave him the points somehow. I do wonder if he will give Arisu any answers or not. Maybe he doesn't really know anything.

Chapter 40 was good. Lol at Tatta randomly deciding to quit school one day. It seems his father died at some point, so his mother has been raising him alone. Tatta wanted to become a comedian, but she wasn't impressed, and even wished his father was alive to "smack some sense" into him. It's how Tatta wants to try and get rich quick, by going on a bunch of tv shows, and also getting women. His mother isn't in a very great financial position, so can't help him financially. Tatta apparently foresaw this, so had applied for three part-time jobs. His mother comments that he's nothing like his father, which I don't think is a bad thing.


It seems that Tatta resented his father. His father worked at a small auto shop, and passed away from anxiety, leaving them in debt. Tatta sees it that he screwed them over. He wants to have big dreams and make it rich to make his mother's life easier, as he doesn't want her to suffer anymore, and she raised him alone.

Seems that Tatta's first try at being a comedian wasn't great, he was mocked and ridiculed by the judge or whoever was in charge. Tatta complains a bit about his predicament to his friend/associate, and he basically just tells Tatta he should've stayed in school. He mentioned some ability development seminar some guy went to, that costs 120,000 yen and apparently turned his life around. Sounds like a scam.

In the end, it seems that Tatta attended it. The first day's task was to sell a pen for 1,000 yen. in the end, he "passed" whatever that thing was lol.

Tatta was asked by that friend about being an Emcee for a gathering for college kids. Tatta boasted about reserving an event space and packing a thousand seats. Barely anyone turned up. Obviously the turnout wouldn't cover the costs, so he said he would and try again. Then he asked his mother for money. Kinda scummy.

The next event was a success, and so they wanted to up the scales and work with charities. The friend and their uni buddies pulled out though. The reason being, they were graduating and had some sensibility to realise they can't screw around forever and have to get jobs and consider their futures.

Seems the events aren't going great for Tatta, he also dabbles in foreign currency for extra income. Not sure how good that would actually be lmao. There's no way Tatta called the dude saying him to get a real job a beta quitter. LMAO.

Ah, yes the currently exchange handling fee went up another 100,000, seems he's getting scammed there too. Again he asked his mother for rent, but she just seems disappointed in him. His intentions were in the right place, but he really didn't consider his mother's circumstances too, which he absolutely should if he's asking her for money still. This is the point where he's basically breaking down and then wakes up in borderland.

God damn, I didn't think it would be like that. So because of Arisu's words, it basically made Tatta make aa very extreme decision. He asked Arisu to sever his arm in the door of a create to get his bracelet to get the points. I guess that worked out, but feels very unrealistic. Seems Tatta has died due to blood loss. RIP.

 

Yup, he went out on his own terms, plus no guarantee they can actually ever go back to the normal world.
