343i and Halo studios:
We can't add playable Elites and Brutes to Halo Infinite due to technical debt.

I was bored, so I put Godzilla into Halo 3. Oh, and he has his trademark atomic breath. Go stomp something or vaporise some shit.

 

The infuriating part is that Halo 2, 3, Reach, and Halo 2 Anniversary all had playable Elites. Modders have made mods for Halo 1 (which never had playable Elites) Custom Edition where you can play as Elites, normal humans, even Grunts and Flood combat forms. Heck, there is a famous custom campaign where you play as an Elite who serves as the secondary antagonist of the second Halo novel (Halo: The Flood) and it was talked about by the Halo official website and youtube channel in their community updates.

The fact that a bored modder (albeit a very skilled one) can put fukking Godzilla (with realistic collision physics and even atomic breath) as a playable character into Halo 3 (whose engine is limited compared to Reach, 5, and Infinite) but a huge-ass company can't give us playable Elites and Brutes (which we know is possible even with the Halo 1 engine from 2001) is just all sorts of bullshit.

 

They are absolutely not incompetent. The people working at 343i/Halo studios are very very talented. The problem is Microsoft Game Studios and the wanker execs they keep putting in charge of 343i/Halo. The suits just keep shooting down a lot of good ideas that the Halo devs keep presenting. Yes, the dev team needs to share some of the blame, and they have made colossal mistakes. But many bad decisions should to be blamed on the execs at Microsoft studios. This includes the horrendously dishonest marketing for Halo 5 (that game's shit story notwithstanding), forcing 343i to outsource some work to contractors in Ukraine and Poland, resulting in some poor QOF updates for the MCC and Infinite. There is also the issue of some contractors not being paid at all, a fukk up which should be blamed on MS and nobody else.

Man, I just feel like running away. But we are in the middle of the worst heatwave this city has ever seen.

 

Been hiking yesterday took us hour and a half to the top, was absolutely worth it!

The Western Ghats:



^ Walk through a plantation of coffee and pepper on one side and lush tropical forest on the other. Great birdwatching.



^ This waterfall's water was pure enough to drink right there. The source was actually pretty close; at the top of that hill.



^ At the top of a hill which was a gruelling trek. Karnataka-Kerala border. At the top it was extremely windy and sunny. Oh, and elephants come along the trek path occasionally. Also leopards and bears at night. Great birdwatching here as well.

 

Man the western ghats are something else. I am planning a trip in Mid May-ish, how is the weather there at that time.
