To be fair: The anime sometimes makes battles much better.

Ichigo vs Ulquiorra's final fight as depicted in the anime and in the Hell Chapter movie are apparently more true to Kubo's vision than what was shown in the manga. Ditto for Toshiro vs Gin back in the Soul Society arc.

And then there is Hisagi vs Findorr, which was vastly better in the anime than in the manga, and a more accurate depiction of what Fraccion/Lieutenants are capable of.

Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag. It would be interesting to see what the anime would've been like if it was done like TYBW. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think Kubo had a similar role back then, right? Plus, I suppose some of the censoring might come down to the timeslot it was at back then.

It would have been far better if Bleach OG anime was seasonal instead of continuously running. They could have left in extra material from the manga (which they cut out in the anime), added more material Kubo could not due to time constraints, and also polished up the animation a bit more. It would have saved us some absolutely pointless fukking filler, and also solved most of the pacing issues that plagued the OG Bleach anime. It would have also likely saved the studio some actual money and manpower, which they could have allocated towards other projects.

Kubo was hands-off for the Shinigami Agent arc, Soul Society arc, and Bount arc. However, he decided to take on a more hands-on consultative role after those three because:

    1. In both the Shinigami agent arc and Soul Society, the studio changed a lot of things and also cut out some important things, which pissed off a lot of fans and Kubo also somewhat.

    2. The Bount arc was dog-shit in terms of story and dialogue.

So Kubo decided from then on (at the beginning of the Arrancar arc in the anime) that he would first oversee the story outlines and approve anime-original dialogue & designs beforehand.

With TYBW, Kubo is personally working with the anime staff on storyboards and is far more hands-on, as he wants the TYBW anime adaptation to do what he could not in the manga.

With the OG Bleach anime (Arrancar arc onwards) Kubo was merely a consultant. With the TYBW anime, he is personally overseeing every-damn-thing.

    This is correct.

Yeah, it's just a product of its time, basically. Every other anime that was prominent was long running and not seasonal, because that's just how it was.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense for the differences.
