Episode 8 was amazing. Zaraki and Mayuri run into Pernida. PP immediately crushed Zaraki's right arm. He's just a right hand hater I guess cause HES SOUL KING'S LEFT HAND! Wonder how Yhwach managed to give Soul Kings powers to a Quincy. Mayuri is goated man. Sorry for ever doubting you King. He quickly made sense of his abilities and adapted accordingly, he then proceeded to bully the **** out of PP You love to see it. In the end his Bankai ******* ate PP hilarious. Doubt that this is the end though. Kenpachi will be pissed if the fight ended so quickly

 

I would not call Renji a bum. Liltotto confirmed that all of the members of Yhwach's Schutzstaffel are "peerless" among the Sternritter. Besides Gremmy, none of the others could hold a candle to them even before the Auswahlen made them more powerful. Losing to one of the six or seven most powerful Quincy (out of 32) besides Yhwach, especially after giving him a good long fight and forcing him to go Vollstandig, is not a bad thing. If anything, it proves how far Renji has come.

Against Uryu currently, Kensei and Rose would have gotten their asses handed to them without having the Student Council President going Vollstandig.

Pernida is the disembodied left hand of the Soul King and, as it itself said, was always a Quincy. In the novels, we learn that Adnyeus was a perfect hybrid of everything: Human, Shinigami, Hollow, Quincy, Fullbringer. He was the perfect mongrel before Ichigo. So it makes sense that Pernida always had Quincy powers.

Mayuri has been an absolute menace and MVP this arc. The Wandenreich underestimated him because of his loss to Uryu back in Soul Society arc. But, honestly, he deserves to be recognised as the sixth special war power for his "gadgets and adaptability".

And he has been doing his damned hardest since even before the first invasion. Recall that he eliminated those Rukongai residents just to offset the annihilation of those Hollows in Hueco Mundo.

 

Episode 9 was absolutely based. Shunsui Kyoraku vs Lille Barro. At first the tides were in Lille's favour but Shunsui quickly clutched. Shunsui has the most unique Shikai and Bankai. Making children's games irl and then Staging the lovers suicide act Heavenly based. Looks like he's in love with his Zanpakuto. Ngl I'd be too. Askin is funny even without trying

 

Episode 10 was great. Mayuri vs PP finally came to a close. Nemu is actually Nemuri #7. She evolved beyond her limits to save Mayuri, and sacrificed herself to save him. In the end it was her flesh and blood which ended up defeating PP. Mayuri has her brain so could probably reconstruct her. Mayuri and Zaraki sleep in the pod now. Rangiku and Toshiro are up Bambis fight Yhwach's lackeys. Bazz B reaches Haschwalt.

 

Sui-Feng: I can make intangible speed clones by moving fast.

Kyoraku: Hold my sake. * Makes speed clones that can fukking bleed *

His bleeding clone even caught Shinji off-guard, and he is also one of the faster captains.

Now you know how fast this fukker is. He was so fast that Lille, who went up against Oetsu (another shunpo master), could not even react at times. It also proves beyond a shadow (pun intended) of a doubt that Kyoraku is much faster than Sui-Feng (whom Omaeda claimed to allegedly be the fastest in Soul Society). But Omaeda's an idiot. So to hell with his opinions.

Also... This battle is quite fitting. The Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 vs The Captain of the Schutzstaffel. Jugram is the Grand Master of the Sternritter and Yhwach sent him to deal with Shunsui personally. Lille is the Captain of Yhwach's Schutzstaffel elite royal guard, and he had to face Shunsui.

Also... Shinji proving to be pragmatic and taking charge of the situation when Kyoraku is gone. Just goes to show how experienced he is in actuality. Well, with Shunsui out, he was the senior-most officer present.

It was strange to see Mayuri expressing a sliver of emotional connection to another person. Damn... How far he has come. He even berated himself in a way with a manifestation of his memories of that asshole Grantz. Fukk of Szayel!

How poetic that the actual left hand of god was defeated by artificially created flesh. Pernida is now literally resting in pieces.

It was also nice to see Ikkaku and Yumichika paying their respects to Mayuri for the splendid battle he had and for helping heal up Kenpachi, Toshiro, Rangiku. Those guys have some honour in them.

PS: Fun fact:
Mayuri's seiyuu is most famous for voicing Frieza. Pernida's seiyuu voiced Broly in the DBS Broly movie. This was Frieza vs Broly round 2

A few more fun facts for you:

* Kyoraku has indeed achieved Zankensoki (mastery of all four shinigami combat forms). We saw him use Hakuda against Chad once. We have consistently seen how masterful he is at shunpo and zanjutsu. This is the first and only time so far we see him use kido, and he uses high level Kido casually without incantation.

* When Kyoraku activates his bankai, his reiatsu covers the entirety of the royal palace, which is just as wide across as Seireitei, which has been estimated at 1500 to 3000 km across. This means if he released his bankai in say . . . Bhopal (which is at the heart of sub-continental India) his reiatsu would be felt in Jammu and Kanyakumari. Or if he released it in the centre of Australia, it'd be felt all across the continent.

* Recall what I said about Genryusai stating that Kyoraku and Ukitake have reiatsu "unmatched by their peers or predecessors"? When Kyoraku unleashes his bankai, even Ichigo is startled and breaks out into a cold sweat. Also, when they are in Dangyo no Fuchi, you notice that Lille was more stressed than Kyoraku. This implies Kyoraku's reiatsu at the time was greater than Lille's, which is especially notable since he was severely wounded already.

* The anime leaves out some scenes from the manga: Everyone caught in the vicinity of Shunsui's bankai reiatsu feels cold, loneliness, despair, and raw primal fear. This includes all of the other captains & lieutenants there as well. This isn't just an ability of his bankai. The elder captains (Yama-jii, Unohana, Shunsui, Jushiro) are all just built different.

* Shunsui's bankai makes adult theatre plays a reality. It has been confirmed that Katen can stage different kinds of plays, which she tailors specifically to suit the opponent Shunsui is currently facing. Similar to how he has different kids' games in shikai, he has different adult theatre plays in bankai.

Regarding Lille:

* The name of his Vollstandig (Jilliel or Zilliel) translates to "judgement of god" and the design drew inspiration from Biblically accurate angels. We also learn that he is the first Quincy to be granted a Schrift by Yhwach, making him the oldest known Sternritter. He is also Yhwach's most zealous follower, with his loyalty and zealousness even creeping out other Sternritter. It is why he calls himself "god's messenger".

* His name (which is French in origin) and the fact that he knows the game Chocolate Ingles both imply that Lille is meant to be a black man of West Indian or Brazilian flavour when it comes to ethnicity. The French name retains the Sternritter theme of being mostly mainland European, while his other ethnic "roots" add an extra bit of diversity.

 

Ah so that's why Ukitake advised him to not use in Fake Karakura, the thing engulfed everything

Oh so it's just not the Lovers Suicide play Too bad we won't know what other plays he can manifest. And Yeah Lille did look like a biblically accurate angel there
