Not much of a noticeable difference these days. And by "noticeable", I mean not noticeable to the average user in day-to-day scenarios. And the supposed "superior" performance of Snapdragon and Dimensity chips is due to benchmark tests consistently taking into consideration only the highest possible benchmark scores of those chips, without taking into consideration thermal throttling and sustained performance.

The Snapdragon 8 series and Dimensity 9000 series chips are theoretically more powerful than their Exynos counterparts, yes, but they throttle to a greater extent once they reach high temperatures. Exynos chips consistently perform better when pushed to the point of 40% throttling, while Snapdragon and Dimensity counterparts have to throttle by as much as 55% in order not to catastrophically melt. At least, that is the case with flagship level chipsets. In the mid-range the performance differences are negligible. Heck, since the Exynos 1330 and 1380 (which debuted in December 2022) Exynos chips have consistently kept up with their closest Snapdragon and Dimensity counterparts in terms of performance, energy efficiency, even thermal stability.

There are also two more issues that people don't consider.

1. That most mobile siftware don't even optimize for Exynos and AMD architecture. Heck, a lot of them don't even optimize for even Mediatek architecture, thus helping Qualcomm's and Nvidia's monopolies.

2. Exynos chips have less energy efficiency - in the first three years - when compared to their closes Snapdragon and Dimensity counterparts. However, they retain greater energy efficiency and thermal stability down the line. A five or six year old Exynos will be more energy efficient and cooler running than a Snapdragon of the same age.

 

It;s good that an average person can't tell the difference between the two. And yeah software optimization is as important as the hardware.

 

You would have to be a real autistic little shit to notice the difference between two chipsets with a performance gap of like 5% here and there in everyday usage. And I say this as an autistic little shit myself.
