Yes, MS has patents for in-game ads and also for a "credit system" based on your ad-viewing time.

A day will come when modders have to remove ads from games somehow or people make add-ons for games to block ads.

It is also why storage and memory for personal devices is so ludicrously expensive now, and the world's only hope is cheap (but high quality) Chinese RAM and SSDs. Unfortunately, the West and their allies anticipated this and slapped ridiculous sanctions on Chinese memory & storage manufacturers.

 

Their prices have also gone up, but nowhere near as much as memory/storage coming out of S Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, the US, and Europe.

China is indeed prioritizing their own AI. But the push is not as insane as in the US and its allies. They also built their data-centres taking into consideration local environmental issues, sound and light pollution, focused on renewable energy, and did not drain their drinking water reserves for cooling.

Have you given Zen and Librewolf a try? Both are excellent Firefox forks.

Zen has some neat tools, is light on CPU and RAM, and is highly regarded by the community. Especially Linux users. It just isn't for me because there is no horizontal tabs option, and anything else I can do with it I can also do with Waterfox and Librewolf.

Librewolf is basically a Firefox equivalent of Brave, minus all the stupid shit like AI, crypto, sponsorships, credits system, paid VPN, and other add-ons that nobody uses. It just takes Firefox and disables all forms of tracking and telemetry. And because it lacks all the stupid shit that Brave tacks on, it is lighter on CPU, RAM, and battery by comparison. It is currently regarded as among the three most private browsers along with Tor and Mullvad. Funnily enough, all three are based on Firefox.

 

@upsurge @Gobb Google pixel 1 gives you unlimited google photos storage till the end of time in the original quality. If you have a spare android, you can spoof google photos in your device being Pixel 1 through ReVanced app OR you could install a Pixel 1 custom ROM. I feel like this knowledge is illegal.

 

Don't have a Google Pixel 1. And I can't stand any Pixel device anyway. They have the worst PWM I have ever seen.

But for those who want to try this shit? Good for them, I suppose.
