"Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection" takes place several years after "Zero Requiem" plan
Sunrise announced at the Code Geass 10th Anniversary event on Sunday that the franchise is getting its "next project," as well as a three-part compilation anime film series. Below is the visual announcing the next project:

The next project is a sequel titled Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection), but the announcement did not reveal the format of the project. The story takes place several years after Lelouch's "Zero Requiem" plan. Sunday's event featured a teaser promotional video with Kallen, Jeremiah, Suzaku Kururugi, and other characters. The staff also stated [Spoilers, highlight to read: Lelouch himself from the previous anime, and not an alternate dimension version or clone, will be in the new project.]

The three-part film series will recap all 50 episodes of the original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion series and the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 sequel series. The cast are re-recording all their lines for the films, and the films will include new scenes. The first film will open in 2017.

Fans who had received tickets and an invitation to Sunday's "Kiseki no Anniversary" event decoded a possible secret code within the invitation that read "Rebirth of the Demon." Bandai's Anime Channel service will stream the event in Japan starting on December 23 at noon, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray Disc release on April 21, 2017. The home video release will include a digest video of the event's stage performance, a picture drama that debuted at the event, a new Fukkatsu! Kiseki no Baba Gekijō short, and the promotional video that announced the new project. Below is the package art by character designer Takahiro Kimura:

[IMG]The original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series premiered in Japan in 2006, while Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 premiered in 2008. The Adult Swim network aired bothseries in North America in 2008. Bandai Entertainment released both seasons on home video in North America before it stopped offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases in 2012. Funimation announced its license of the series in 2013.

The five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA is a spinoff of the original anime series, and is set in between the two seasons. The first episode debuted in Japan with a theatrical screening in 2012, and the fifth and final episode opened in theaters in Japan on February 6. Funimation licensed the series in 2013, and premiered it at a screening at Otakon in August. The company will release the entire series on home video in early 2017.

Honestly not sure how to feel about this. On one hand, it'll be nice to return to the Code Geass series, which is a personal favourite of mine, but on the other, I'm not sure where they can go with this. Potentially, exploring the events post-Requiem? The characters where they are now? It'd be interesting, but there are potential problems that come with tampering with an ending that was intentionally left ambiguous.

Imo, it's in people's best bet to take this with a grain of salt and basically, don't overly link it to CG as it stands in case it doesn't turn out well. I wouldn't let it influence any thoughts/feelings with the original as it stands now.

At first I was really excited about this since I'd get to see Lelouch in action again, but now I'm somewhat hesitant about watching it because it may ruin the series.

It can be cool, they just have to find a very good plot and not ruin the characters .

It will probably ruin everything, but I'm still looking forward to this.
