I was interested in the whole "aliens in a fantasy setting" bit initially. But then they went and ruined the concept for me.

It would have been a rehash of the Fate of the Jedi novel series for me.

I would read the shit out of a Naruto manga set in the time period in-between Kaguya's imprisonment and those Shinobi world wars.

Star Wars is taking a similar route right now with The High Republic series, which is set in an era often ignored even in the old EU. And the fandom has never been more united in their excitement of something new and of moving away from that milked to hell Skywalker saga.
