There isn't even a major difference between the minimum and recommended hardware. It's like a 15-30% difference overall in actual gaming benchmarks.

What is especially hilarious is that members there who had gotten access to the alpha and beta say the game runs on low settings smoothly on a freaking Ryzen 5 3550H and Vega 8 iGPU.

Then you have the fact that a Ryzen 5 2600 and GTX 2060 can max the game out at 90-120 fps with only 60% GPU usage.

 

This is worse than the Witcher 3 situation but not as bad as Red Dead Redemption 2.

 

- GTX 1070 minimum...
- Is only 15-30% weaker than the recommended RTX 2060.
- Runs on GT 1030 entry level GPU.

Not just a ploy to push people to consoles, but also to buy new hardware.

 

Yeah, that makes sense.

MS Game Studios and 343 will probably do something with Halo Infinite, with wildly inflated official requirements to push people towards Xbox X/S consoles. Then, after release, you'll see YouTube videos of people running the game on an MX450 laptop

 

Just hoping MS doesn't pull a Halo 2 Vista and make it Windows 11 exclusive in order to push that OS on fans and gamers.

Thankfully, the official Steam page says Windows 10 minimum. Though it sucks that those clinging to Win 7/8 will miss out.

 

Yeah, especially since Xbox X/S run basically a heavily modified Win 10 Enterprise.

Side Note:
I remember when game crackers managed to make a custom patch that would force Halo 2 Vista to run on Windows XP SP3. That's how I got into Halo 2 in the first place

 

Yeah. It disabled multiplayer though. But if you installed the game on Vista, you could play multiplayer even if it was a pirated copy.
