The criticisms against Little Mermaid make no sense considering it's a ******* made-up race of half-fish-half-human people dreamt up by drunk & horny sailors in the middle ages. But the ones against Snow White I can agree with, considering the character is canonically from a Germanic ethnicity.

Depends on the historical context of where the film is made, I guess, and intentions of the film-makers.

Portraying Cleopatra with white actresses because her ethnicity is still under debate, but she was most likely descended from Macedonian Greeks who are white? 100% fine.

Portraying ancient Egyptians and other Levantine people with ethnically ambiguous looking white people? Fine in my book, as long as it doesn't cross a certain line. Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep is perfection and I will accept nobody else in that role.



Portraying of a South-East Asian boxer of Chin-Kuki-Zo ethnicity in a biopic of her life by an actress of Indo-Aryan descent instead of another person from North-East India? And using weird-ass make-up to give that Indo-Aryan actress the characteristic slit-eyes associated with South-East Asian and East Asian people? Absolutely not Okay. Alarm bells! Wrong! Even the actress herself now regrets the role despite the film being well received.

You are going to see long list of specific white roles being transferred to minority becoz they are now substantial amount of audience. Many people at least in India( i believe it's probably same elsewhere) won't have problem with it. I mean if play is done on let's say Russian Revolution in India and Indian guy will play Lenin or Stalin or Let's say a Play or adaptation of Snow White is done in India a india girl will play her.I believe it would be the same across Africa,East Asia and most of Latin America.
