    Objectively false. It had 5 anime series and 6 manga series since then, card game became bigger and more developed and is actually moving off to different mediums (Duel Links and Generation for smartphones & Legacy of the Duelist for Steam and consoles) and the franchise is still going strong after 20 years. It's not dead in any sense of the word.

    Yu-Gi-Oh! means "King of Games" a title which was prominent in other series. It is also a wordplay of a japanese word which means friendship and represents the central themes of the show. It was never a pun about Yugi's name. In fact, Yugi's name translates to game so it's the other way around.
