Normal Game Thread Big Trouble in Little Salem

To me the game doesn't feel like it has such complicated/advanced roles in all fairness
well SK maybe that's always a possibility but the other stuff ...shrug

 

Well I wouldn't call a traitor advanced. A lich for sure, but I think Ningen was xshot jailer wasn't he? Mafia might be weaker than expected, so that rules a lich out already. It's an amazingly strong role. Traitor on the other hand is a handicap and with stuff like a xshot jailor and various vanilla townies he is a possibility. A gunsmith is also a worse cop.

 

Dunno if I've come across traitors before. What's the role; a mafia that's not in communications/team chat with the main squad?

Does gunsmith not work on "non-vig" roles? I was thinking it'd work on all mafia by default, they're all gunmen in theory... but I guess that could be a flavor difference

 

A traitor can vary. He can be informed who the mafia is, but the mafia might not be aware of him. Vice versa also the case. Mafia knows who he is and he isn't aware who the mafia is.
In a setup with OGC I would think that both know that they exist, but not who it is. Otherwise the mafia or the traitor could just make a new conversation right away.

Why do you think they made contact already?

 

There should have been signals from either side by now. Traitors and mafia usually try to find each other throughout the game. Signals really depend on how players know each other or by fluff. Not something you can easily detect from my experience.

 

Aye that's why I ask why you sounded sure they made contact when to me it sounds like quite a "mission impossible" kind of gamble. We haven't even gotten one successful non-town lynch yet so unless all the pros are teamed together in such a way where they can manipulate the game to that extent and spot signals that none of us regularly following the thread have then that's quite depressing for the state of affairs.

So I was thinking maybe you suspected one of the inactives that someone took a gamble on or something, basically "pure luck"

It's uncertain anyways whether such a role is in this round (haven't bothered to look at the cancelled round so dunno if they had it or if it was revealed in the first place) and if it does exist it's uncertain whether they made contact or not since it's mutually risky for both parties if they're not fairly confident in the signals they spotted.
Not sure myself, I might need a lengthy reread of thread to see if anyone has given off the vibe that they've been trying to get someone's attention.

 

It's way easier for mafia to know signals then town. After all they would be aware that a traitor even exists here.

For town to know possible signals to begin with we would need to lynch scum. Then we can go ahead and analyze stuff.

Well I was scum in the last round, so I know that there wasn't one. Last setup isn't the same as this one though.

That being said don't take my words as fact here. I am just trying to get a deeper insight into the setup.

 

Yeah no worries. Some people hate talk of game mechanics as if it's completely useless, though I'm okay with it, can learn from it as well. Learn something new from it even.
