Synopsis

There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning.

A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation.

Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as "the weapon," has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of "Auto Memories Dolls," who carry people's thoughts and convert them into words.

Violet begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll, and comes face to face with various people's emotions and differing shapes of love. All the while searching for the meaning of those words.​

 

This anime is both beautiful visually and emotionally, 2 episodes in and safe to say that I believe this to be a strong AOTY contender.

Agreed. So pretty! Those eyes! It surprises me in a sweet way that the recent anime I picked up are playing the visual game so well. Now here's hoping that the story plot will do the design justice. Violet Evergarden has the potential to kill me with sad love stories, so bring it on.

When do you think Violet will know the truth about her boss, though?

 

Yeah, man I wish this was the standard for anime production. KyoAni has some top-tier talent.

I can see it happening towards the end, but can't say for certain.

Yeeeesss, doooo iiiiit. This anime is beautiful, in more ways than one.

 

Our Violet is growing up, but its going to be devastating once she finds out what happened to Gilbert...

 

Episode 7 was so beautiful, it was sad with what happened with the author's daughter, but it was extremely touching to see Violet help him overcome it and finish his story. Violet certainly has came a long way from how she was in episode one. So the cats out of the bag and Violet found out about Gilbert's, her reaction was heartbreaking .

This was hands down, the best episode yet!

 

Holy hell, that was a good episode, nice we finally got a look at Violet and Gilbert's backstory. I'm expecting a lot of feels next episode.

 

Atta girl Violet, I love her character development. Something tells me that Gilbert isn't dead though....the lack of no body is extremely suspicious.

 

Wow episode 10 was.....goddamnit who's chopping onions in my room?!
