What matters more than a degree for going abroad is work experience with a reputed employer and a decent income slab at home.

I have quite a few clients who don't have fancy degrees but managed to get visas for all sorts of countries thanks to impressive work records and impressive tax returns. I also have two clients with fancy degrees from well known universities, but didn't manage to get visas to the UK or US.

Simply put: The other country (if it is a more developed one) wants to confirm that you have a stable and reasonably high income at home; enough to fund your trip and to reassure themselves that you're not attempting to come and take a job in their country.
