Synopsis​

After the murder of her father, Ryuuko Matoi has been wandering the land in search of his killer. Following her only lead—the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade—she arrives at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a high school unlike any other. The academy is ruled by the imposing and cold-hearted student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin alongside her powerful underlings, the Elite Four. In the school's brutally competitive hierarchy, Satsuki bestows upon those at the top special clothes called "Goku Uniforms," which grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities.

Thoroughly beaten in a fight against one of the students in uniform, Ryuuko retreats to her razed home where she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient "Kamui," or God Clothes. After coming into contact with Ryuuko's blood, Senketsu awakens, latching onto her and providing her with immense power. Now, armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade, Ryuuko makes a stand against the Elite Four, hoping to reach Satsuki and uncover the culprit behind her father's murder once and for all.

 

Damn. I really regret not watching this when I added it to my plan to watch notepad back in 2013 before it even aired. Dunno why it's taken me so long to start it, just has, but boy do I not regret it. I have absolutely no ******* clue what is even happening in this anime, lol. Straight into action, too; which is madness. Ryuko's a badass. Mako is adorable. The art direction and music is phenomenal! I had no idea it was in a school setting too, damn. This is gonna be a ride and 10/10 kino anime, I can tell. Looking forward to finishing this before the new decade!

Episode 2 was fantastic. Got introduced to the dude who provided Ryuko with the Kamui and was indeed a teacher. Also got an introduction to more of Mako's family, certainly an interesting bunch lol. Then the most intense tennis match I've witnessed ensued. Gets me every time Satsuki comes out and it on some high up, far away pedestal talking down to people.

 

Episode 3 was great! We get some more backstory to the teacher. Him helping Ryuko's dad with the development of the second Kamui was interesting and explained why he's helping her. It's not really unexpected. Also, the scene where Satsuki got her Kamui on. lol. Another epic fight occurred; really loving this anime. Also loving Mako and her family lel. Honestly, Ryuko's personality is not at all like I expected, neither is really anyone's. It's all just so bizarre. Really unique.

 

Well damn, lol.

 

Gurren Lagann was amazing!

 

Just finished episode 4. This show is insanity. I swear it has everything, even 2 classic sound tracks when the father "died" and the airborne part. The obstacle course thing to stop them getting to school on time was madness. Loved how they ended up making too, lel.

 

Episode 5 was great! Another character introduced who is working against the current hierarchy. Some golden moments too. All of Mako's family freaking out and being sympathetic to Ryuko always talking to her clothes (Kamui). And then Ryuko and Tsumugu facing off and having the argument of if clothes can be friends and trusted. Next minute enter: Mako who goes on a rant about how it's Ryuko's only set of clothes and they're friends (the clothes and Ryuko) lmfao.

 

Episode 6 was pure kino. Got a sneak peak introduction to Satsuki's mother - Ragyou. Interesting design. Then we had the round 1 battle between Ryuko and Uzu; the former stomping. Then the latter's comeback after he took drastic measures to increase his abilities. Damn.

 

Episode 7 was pretty great. It did a rather good job showing Satsuki's view on people as a whole; showing how coming into wealth can go to a person's head and change them. Pretty in the feels. The when Ryuko ended up being left alone again for dinners and then Mako was fighting against her. ;-; All of the one shot moments were pretty amusing, though.

 

Episode 8 was great. Got some backstory for Gamagori and Satsuki. Gamagori driving was pretty funny. Then at the end of the episode and the 7 day long free-for-all we have the Elite 4 vs Ryuko. Looking forward to it!
