A decade ago, they could have justified that price tag with their build quality. But now they don't have even that. The likes of Lenovo and Asus offer laptops whose parts are just as durable (with their peripherals such as the charging cable being even more so) when compared to Macbooks. And they manage to do so at a lower price point.

Mac OS series being immune to malware and adware is also complete bunk. Security experts have noted that they do only slightly better in this regard than Windows. At the end of the day, it depends on user experience. Someone like me or Gobb with Windows 10 is safer from malwares/adwares than your average Mac OS user who is only average tech savvy.

I will, however, say this: Macbooks do seem to do better than Windows on the privacy front. Yeah, Windows 10 is horrible right now when it comes to privacy. It's especially infuriating considering the steps forward MS made with Win 7 and 8/8.1 in terms of privacy. They took two steps forwards and three back.

Of course, it'd be stupid to say Mac OS is 100% private, but it is better than Windows in that regard.

You mentioned earlier that you want a laptop for everyday use and streaming. Just get something with a Ryzen 5 5500U or i5-1135G7, iGPU only, 16 GB RAM in dual channel, very good build quality, and call it a day. But make sure it has Wi-Fi 6 - because for streaming and such, you will want that blazing fast net connectivity. My new Acer Aspire 7 has it and it is indeed worth it.

His laptop was lower middle class for the year he bought it. Now though...

He says he doesn't plan on gaming. Just basic everyday use and streaming. Hence my suggestion to get something with wi-fi 6.

I plan on gaming, I'll play FM22 which can probs run on the Pentium CPU :D

I am to blame for that lmao. I'm a terrible user for using it on my bed while lying down most of the time
