    I would agree with the no point worrying attitude if it wasnt about my kids very possibly starving to death from the famines and wars that are going to happen in their lifetime if we stay on this trajectory. Like, sure our generation might luck out and escape such turmoil but I can't not worry about my childrens future.

    Don't really know how to reply. I know what you're saying. It's also a possibility that you have no control over. It's definitely something to consider and talk about when you're thinking about having kids. As for war, it's always a possibility, but I can't picture another world war when most of the world is allied or not aggressive in that way. But I guess many vs few is still technically world war, just not a free for all.

    I dont lol but I plan to have one in maybe 2-3 years if all goes well with my gf

    Idk man stuff like this makes me super nihilistic. Ive read an older Guardian article of how the real bad shit is going to happen by the end of the century and not likely earlier than that so my kids may have a shot but I have zero expectation of ever being a grandpa cuz that generation is almost a 100% screwed and it fills me with despair

    Idk thanks for entertaining me yall Im done spreading this negativity here for now. If it does all go to shit well have plenty of time to despair then I guess...

    Your kids will cope the same how we kids from 90's coped with the war and disbanding of Yugoslavia, true we haven't really experienced it directly, but we lived exactly after it and had direct consequences because of it.

    I feel like this type of fear mongering shit is exactly what makes shit like this happens. I feel like the saying is a broken clock is right twice a day? Like, the world was gonna end in the 90s or whatever, when the time on computers wouldn't go past x point. then it was gonna end in 2008 or 2009 or whatever? Then again in 2012 and we're still here.

    I don't doomscroll, I've been keeping up with the research on climate change for a while now and am only saying things that are credible. The war was a very different beast from what we're heading towards as that thing had an end in sight whereas this scenario is a continuous downwards spiral.

    Those are all completely different things but it's fine we can stop talking about this now.
