Yeah it does. I guess it's not GF being lazy, just impossible time constraints when talking about syncing up pokemon game/merch/anime, etc.

    Legend confirmed.

And, yeah, he is a large adult male Nile croc from Burundi. He was born in the late 1950s, 6 to 6.5 metres long, 900-1000 kilograms, and is a notorious man-eater. He also has a scar on one of his shoulders from an intermediate-caliber hunting rifle; the bullet allegedly didn't pierce his shoulder armour and bounced off, which is believable for something as weak as 5-6 mm caliber.

There are allegations that he has died, but no concrete proof. Some people are still reporting sightings.

Yeah, I thought so. Funnily enough with some of the shit i'd been having play on youtube while working for background noise or while on break, to do with stuff like that (cryptids maybe? alleged sightings of stuff) which had like an alleged 50ft crocodile, and at some point he came up as a point of a large example, and yeah, allegedly dead but no actual proof.

I always find alleged sightings of 12+ metre (39+ feet) snakes and 8+ metre (26+ feet) crocs to be hilarious, when scientists have repeatedly said that our current climate and atmosphere can't support such large reptiles. There is theoretically no known limit to which the largest living snakes and crocs could grow; but beyond a certain limit, their lungs and brains would stop functioning in our current climate and atmosphere.

The last time they got that big, the world was warmer, wetter, much more humid, and the atmosphere had a much greater concentration of oxygen. This combination gave us the three largest ever snakes and the largest ever alligator.

Our current global climate is actually causing reptiles to shrink.

I think the alleged sightings were like 1600s or 1800s. But yeah. I mean, I guess there is always a freak possibility if the starts align (maybe not that big, but bigger than we've seen/known of). But more than likely, they are just overexaggerated very large sightings.

In general, in the case of large reptile sightings, the size of the animal in question is often exaggerated by a factor of 1.5 to 2. And, yes, this figure was arrived at via careful study. The former factor is for sightings from land/boat and the latter is for sightings from low-flying aircraft such as helicopters. So a 6-7 metre (19.7 to 23 foot) individual could be reported being supposedly as much as 12-14 metre (39-46 foot).

The aeriel sighting issue was prevalent in the case of the supposed giant Congo snake, a Central African rock python which some helicopter crew reported as 10-11 metre (33 to 36 foot). It turned out to be at best 5 metre (16.4 foot) by a National Geographic team which investigated on foot.

In the case of recovered skins/hides, they are often exaggerated by a factor of 30-33 percent (about one-third extra) because the skins/hides of large reptiles tend to stretch by that factor after drying. So a recovered shed anaconda skin of 8 metre (26 foot) or reticulated python skin of 9 metre (29.5 foot) could be reported as 10.4 metre (34 foot) to 12 metre (39 foot). This was also the case with alleged examples of 8 metre (26 foot) Orinoco crocodiles; a 6 metre specimen's hide became stretched and it was reported as being 8 metres when alive.

Quite frankly, my dear, I find it hilarious that herpetologists actually have mathematical formulae and ratios pointing out by how much witnesses exaggerate the size of animals.

Herpetologists, when some African helicopter pilot or South American fisherman reports a giant reptile: Yeah, your estimate is bullshit by *this* much.

    Doing "Meh" myself.
