After using Vivaldi for work so far, here are my observations:

- Uses half as much RAM as Edge. In fact, I don't think I have seen RAM usage cross 1.5 GB (and that was with a shit tonne of tabs and documents open). Egde would hit 1.2 GB just with Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Google Drive, and two documents open. Even Firefox, which also eats RAM, with the exact same shit open would stay under three-quarters that.

- As a bonus, it doesn't run in the background when you close. It just shuts down 100% no-questions-asked. With MS Edge, you'd see in the task manager that it'd still be running as a background process, eating up as much as half a GB of RAM. You had to select it and manually end process.

- The in-built features have been great for productivity: Notes, Countdown timer, Reminder alarms, handy PDF editing tools, tab handling/stacking/grouping, page-tiling.

- Surprisingly good on laptop battery life. Noticeably better than Edge and Firefox.

By the way... That crashing issue with Vivaldi when hardware acceleration is enabled? Yeah... It seems to be an issue only when the device is equipped with an Nvidia dedicated GPU. No issues whatsoever on AMD and Intel GPUs (integrated or otherwise). This makes sense, since Vivaldi was initially developed and optimized for Linux (it comes pre-packaged as default browser on some Linux distributions, actually) and we all know Nvidia is just shite when it comes to anything Linux-related.

Yes.

My laptop has a Ryzen 5 5500U. Because hardware acceleration is disabled, Vivaldi in my laptop will always be using the Radeon RX Vega 7 iGPU instead of the GTX 1650M for visual tasks. I have never since had that crashing issue repeat when watching high-res videos in full-screen.

 

The US just invaded Venezuela, a peaceful country which never bothered anyone. Heck, if anything, they were a huge help to a lot of their neighbours, including the US itself.
