Actually there was another successful, popular and well liked VN writer (well, in Japan, I don't think he's too popular in the west), Meteo Hoshizora, who was hired by Type Moon to make them a collab VN. Said VN was later changed into an anime, with a large budget, from Ufotable, With Hoshizora doing parts of the script.
The budget was then used to make 3 Fate/ anime instead.
