What is your favorite type of protagonist?

For me, I'm drawn to anti-heroes. They try to do what they believe is right and are on the side of good, however they often go about it in-heroic ways and will use just about any means necessary to accomplish their objective. These characters appear cold, and ruthless, but they have good intentions and are truly heroes in their own right. I just find anti heroes to be incredibly intriguing, because they are willing to do what necessary to get the job done with out being restrained by typical morals and tend to have deeper and more realistic ideals than other characters.

What is your favorite type of protagonist?​

 

Definitely people who aren't afraid of getting the job done, despite any cost it may have. Generally, people such as Hachiman and Lelouch are my preferred protagonists.

 

I tend to like the abnormal or unique ones that have a grain of cunnigness/badassery in terms of how they deal with things. Well, in general, I like the well written ones (ex. Emiya Shirou, Tohno Shiki, Hoshiino Kazuki, Hachiman Hikigiya, etc.) since I usually prefer for the protagonist to be the more interesting side of the shows' cast, but I also like the plain likeable and cunning ones that, while simple in characterization, are still immensely enjoyable to have on screen (ex. Yukihira Souma, Adlet Mayer, Onizuka, etc.)

Ironically despite liking badass characters, I tend to despise ones who are extremely bland in characterization or aren't even likeable and their only selling point is how ''badass'' they are. I also despise ones that show morals down our throats or are just over-all generic type of heroic MCs who's heroism gets overblown to all hell. Naruto being the biggest example of the latter case from what I've read/watched so far.

 

I don't Normally like the protags of anime, not sure if they're classified as a type but Yato, Alibaba Saluja and Tomoko Kuroki would have to be my favourite protags.

an independent party
ones who stand on their own and never side with humans the so called "good guys" force unless its for the purpose of using them

I'll give you an example, Kei from Ajin. Not saying he is my favourite per se since he sides with so called good guys godawful humans but characters with his individualistic traits are my favorite type
