    Hi

I'm making this short thread with a few things you guys can do to increase traffic, and measure results.

It's a proposal, and if you don't want to follow it then okay, but it works for my clients.

What is the point of this? The point is to measure results of your hard work - when intended to 1) increase traffic to your site, and 2) conversion to site goals and 3) navigation of traffic on your site.

Sometimes optimisation pays off, sometimes it doesn't. These tools help you see the change in traffic after your hard work. Does traffic go up, down, or not change after changing meta-tags? Nice to know.

All of these are free of charge. If you want more info, let me know and I'll give you help setting it up. Some of it is intended for e-commerce but it can be used for anime forums too :cat

    Some tools:
    1. Google Analytics
What is it? Google Analytics tells you how many visitors your site has, which site or search engine they come from.

Why us it? Once setup correctly you can measure what you want to achieve with the site f.ex register new users - GA can help you track progress to your goals. So f the goal was registering new users and measuring conversion of users using features like video stream or content promotion, you can setup goals or event tracking to measure how many do this - to see if you succeed at achieving this goal. That helps if you are focused on growing the community, or want the community to be able to do something with your features, like sharing content or watching streams together.

How to setup Google Analytics? Simple guide here. I would recommend setting up Google Tag manager later, but you can start with the simple guide.

Who else uses it? In ecommerce, Google Analytics is the tool of choice for webmasters. It is also widely used among bloggers, news sites, and is used in the US federal government services like https://www.healthcare.gov/

Can I trust Toby with this? Sure, I've used Google Analytics Premium for enterprise for over 4 years and BigQuery. Plus I helped build big data platforms for a large global app developer. Experienced with Open source platforms like Hadoop and Google platforms like 360 Suite and Google Cloud. Contact me for deets.

    2. Google Search Console
What is it? This tells you how many people visit your site via Google by clicking on a particular search result, and what keywords you are ranking for in different languages. F.ex, if you rank on Toriko in English, the number of times you show up in search results, rank in search results, and clickthrough rate to this website.

Why use it? This is useful for keyword analysis and measuring results on your site changes. For example in your case that would be about measuring if you get more traffic when you add TV shows, like Tokyo Ghoul, to meta-tags on the site. If you make improvements to the site in the meta-tags or reorganise content, you should be able to see a change in keyword ranking in Google, and how many more or fewer people visit your site as a result. You can also see this in Google Analytics of course, but not traffic from keywords like what people search for in Google.

How to setup Google Search Console? Simple guide here. You need to upload a file to your site to verify it's yours and submit updated sitemaps regularly to the console so Google-bot can recrawl your website to re-index content. Then the console will show you results in actual clickthrough rates to the site.

Who else uses it? Honestly all newspapers and most content-focused sites use this to measure if they get more traffic when adding a new topic or writing about something new. It can also help companies with a specific brand measure increase in interest for a specific product over time.

Can I trust Toby with this? Sure, I've used this for roughly 3 years and I'm working on figuring out how to get more data out of it using its APIs.
