You know you put the key down here somewhere.... you search the side table and it's missing. You can't remember if you even put it there in the first place.

I Run to the door and try to break it down

 

Even though the door isn't made out of the same metallic material the rest of Ashgate is, you have trouble making even the slightest dent into the wooden door.

I look out any windows looking for something anything

 

Everything looks pretty normal, and you don't find anything.

You hear something from one of the rooms inside.

I immediately turn and follow the noise

 

You steady your breathing, and strain your ears to hear. From inside the study, you can hear something breathing.

I slowly turn the knob of the door to the study

 

You slowly open the door, and nothing immediate happens. You step into the study fully, and see Umbra sat on the floor inside the armory room.

"Umbra?"

 

She's slow to reply, but eventually turns around and smiles.

"Er, s-sorry." she stammers. You hadn't heard her do that in a long time. "I was bored while you were resting, so I started wondering around...." she slowly got up to her feet, and took another look around. "For a while there, I forgot what you used to do."

"And is that bad?" I ask tentatively feeling on edge

 

She pauses.

"It was human."

I go and sit next to her lightly grazing her hand "I think we're all human at one stage"
