Yeah, rough.

Chapter was great. Kaido going full merciless with it. Based on the full chapters, I think the fruit's awakening has altered Luffy's heart beat or maybe his "voice" so it's like Joyboys. I am thinking that Joyboy is not literally overtaking Luffy's body, but either:
Joyboy was the first fruit user and only other person to awaken it, Luffy awakening it is making his body act the same = Drums
Joyboy is in some way or another the fruit and the devil fruit awakening has some of his properties

Or it could be something else. Very interested to see next chap. Break will be rough.

 

Yeah, Luffy "dying" is kind of a cop-out mid way through the story when you know he can't die lol.
