So a Mig 29 of IN crashed yesterday.Its probably the 4th or 5th crash of a fighter that like 10-12 years old.

One thing is for sure Russian Engines are very very unreliable and a deck based fighter has probably after wear and tear than IAF ones. going for Mig 29 was probay one of the most retarded decisions made by IN and GOI

 

The MiG-29 isn't a terrible fighter. In fact, it's widely regarded as among the best multi-role fighters to come out of the 1970s fourth gen fighter race (with some even in NATO considering it superior to the F-16). Several dozen nations have widely used it with great success. That's a nice track record.

The problem is that they are now outdated and HAL is cucking them on the maintenance front. We actually have a client who supplies services and parts to HAL (filed their audit report two weeks ago, actually). A contact of theirs over there said that several fighter models of the IAF haven't been getting good maintenance since . . . you-know-who came to power. This isn't just a problem with the MiG-29. It has also happened with the BAE Hawk and even the Mirage-2000 (which is one of the highest quality fighters ever built).

The issue isn't with the fighter itself. It's with HAL being cucked by Jaitley (who intended to privatize it before his death) and Feku.

It entered service only in 2010 and 5 has crashed since which is atrocious.
Mig 29 was never meant for carrier operation and Russians cancelled the carried based Mig 29 program but only revived it since india invested money so that they can operate it on Vikramaditya.

We bought 45 and 5 have already crashed in around 12 years of service

 

Oh, yeah, that was a bad decision indeed. Even the Russians preferred Sukhoi's offerings over that one due to superior manoeuvring capabilities and thrust vectoring compatibility.

 

Su 33 is worse actually even Russians ditched that for Mig 29k but their Aircraft Carrier has been out of service like 90% of time
