In hindsight . . . I really regret not including the Indian Spotted Owlet in the list of cute Bangalore birds.

I see them everyday during my walks in Lalbagh. Pictures do not do them justice. They are much cuter in person.

And they are small. Adults are like 15 to 20 cm tall with large goofy looking faces relative to body size. That makes them even cuter.

 

I am so jealous! They sounds like lil' feather balls you just wanna hug - or at least stare at them in wonder *.*

 

They are skittish and shy. They will flee if one gets too close.

Staring at them in wonder is the only option.

Also, this should make you truly jealous:
I have seen them hunting on four occasions. Two of those occasions involved them coming quite close. I have seen a male catch a praying mantis and also a small chocolate-coloured frog within just a few metres.
