I'd really want to help but no ideas

Besides from recruiting members and advertising cool unique to forum events only seen here i dont know.
I mean people come and post cause they wanna. We all know here is great but the more people that wanna post the better.
More members more activity I guess

Yeah, any ideas how we can appeal to new members or guests?

Well i mean there has to be a reason for them to join, either cool feature they can access from the gecko, an event, something that stands out you know.
I mean even a "what can a new member do here" thread/new member integration section would be an amazing start. Although that takes time =.=

That's not a bad idea. Like a showcase/advertisement thread. That could maybe work into the homepage being made.

Exactly! I mean if people can see the highlights or whatever then they can be like "woaahh cool". I mean im just basing it off game design - apprently a consumer takes around 30seconds to decide their first impression im assuming same idea can be applied anywhere.
Is someone who've been encouraged to join really gonna spend their first impression looking around necessarily.

Even if there was some way to engage new members. Like a simple challenge system, a reaallyyy basic one wouldnt take much time to set up. Or along the likes.

It's the first 7 seconds for an impression to be made.

Follow the buzzards

Advertising the site on other social sites, like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and such. Also creating fan pages in those websites and posting consecutive content that appeals to the sought after crowd.

We've tried the social media route a bunch of times, I think it could still work, but we may need a different approach. The fan pages idea may work effectively, hopefully.

I believe having someone who posts regularly with a popular opinion on those pages could help. I've seen certain people who post their thoughts on many posts get a very significant amount of likes, because people know who they are and what they usually say, so it becomes something of a norm for them to want to see what x person has to say about x topic

could try to stir up debates on different topics, maybe having a weekly thread for it or something. a lot of the times forums with a lot of debates/discussion drew me in even if they didn't have a large amount of members
