I'm guessing hearts may put all players against each other, although that's what all of them kind of do, to a degree. But there is some encouragement to stick together to make surviving easier.

Yeah, I guess he was calm because he probably views himself as built for borderland. Especially considering the egotistical comment about intellect, and not to mention he mentions having a high kill count.

Also, per my above post, isn't it weird that players can get into the building fine, then afterwards exists have landmines prepared, and when it finishes, the exits would be safe to exit. How can that even happen? Gotta be either super extreme tech or just a different reality whether "real" or some dream-like world.

Chapter 7 was good. It comes as a surprise to them that a gun is present in Borderland, and that people can be shot. I'm a little surprised that they're surprised, but I suppose it's the first game of many.

Arisu and Karube gather themselves after witnessing the deaths of Nitobe and the other. Arisu resolves to not be killed here. They did note, while it wields a machine gun, it's slow at moving. Now they're away from it, they plan to search for the base. Karube has his own idea, and yells to the others a description of the killer, and to let each other know where it's going to search for the base more safely.

None of the others really want to risk giving away their position, except for the sporty girl. With the location called, she ran for it and tried to help another, but there was absolutely no time, so she used the building's structure to climb up a floor. Being a rock climber, she's familiar with dangerous situations and possible death at any time. Her background made it possible for her to climb to safety.

Another player tried to leave and avoid the mines, only to set it off. RIP. Two of the older men have an interesting talk. One is a very fit gut, who wrestled in their school days and coaches in their free time. He was asked if he could snap the killer's neck in close combat, and while confident in his ability, he raised the point of there not having close combat against someone with an automatic weapon.

The guy asking the question, actually had detailed knowledge of the gun in use, and clapped back at the "you seem stupid" with his own "you seem stupid". xD The raised another point, that every gun needs reloading, so that would be the key window to take advantage of. They've planning to say "**** You!" to the game, and kill the killer and fight back a borderland. He isn't military, but a military nerd.

Arisu and Karube continue to not have luck with finding the base, and there's only about 10 minutes left. Arisu is extremely fatigued at this point and stops to catch his breath in the middle of the walk way, only for the killer to appear at the other end. He and Karube both immediately duck for cover, but it appears that they've been seen. Arisu can do nothing but hide in the doorway entry, and realistically, Karube can't do anything against someone with a gun alone, so he just runs.

Arisu concludes he'll be fine if he hides due to the killer's mask obscuring his vision. He tries to calm himself and slow his heart rate to lower noise, and initially can't get it under control. He has some flashback, and is then able to basically "disappear" removing his presence by somehow using his inferiority complex.

Karube was angry with himself by leaving Arisu to die, but ran into the other two who rope him into their plan to hunt the hunter. 8 minutes and 6 players remain.

Yeah, they even reference it being death by laser in the next chapter, I think.

Could be a variation of reality like Gantz, where it creates the world and the players and if they get enough points, they can escape.

Will be interesting to see if they use the theory the killer had and check the origin of the chasing killer.

Not too far-fetched. They could will them into being. They could function as landmines and not actually be them. Could just pretend to explode or something. But they did also summon 100 million plus arrows out of thin air.

    Chapter Seven

First off, what the hell? The dude can turn invisible just because he always felt so. I think the logical conclusion would be that the killer didn't seem him out of the restrictions on line of sight imposed by wearing the mask. Found out that the landmines were not a lie. Hard way to go, in pieces. Apparently self-preservation trumps friendship every time. Not sure why he is upset about it. Arisu would probably have done the same thing in his shoes.

Makes me feel he's going to use his invisibility to try to find the room while the three men try to overpower the killer.

Not really much else to say on this chapter sadly.

Would be interested to know if the female becomes a love interest for one of our MC boys.

Yeah, could go a few different ways, it's hard to say at this point.

    Yeah.

Sorry, I meant far-fetched in terms of the original/normal reality or normal people behind it, at least. It aligns with everything else in broderland.

I mean, he's not literally invisible, it's just he's basically making himself "disappear" by playing into his inferiority complex, at least I feel that's what it is. But yeah, it's a bit weird. Yeah, the killer's vision/perception is fairly impaired from the mask, so more than likely he just never saw Arisu to start with, or at the very least, didn't see where he went. Makes sense, a single person is just going to die if they confront someone with machinegun most of the time. No point both of them dying in that scenario.

I feel like Chota and her, but idk, I feel like that would make things worse in the games, bringing a relationship into it.

Chapter 8 was good. I feel like Karube is being to hard on himself. He knows he couldn't have done anything, but still can't forgive himself for leaving Arisu. He truly is a great guy. So they plan to exploit the fact that the gun empties the entire magazine in under 1.5 seconds, plus the 5-6 seconds taken for reloading, giving them the time to get close.

Arisu has taken some time to rest and is now reflecting on things. I feel like in general it might be hitting the nail on the head by saying he's human and not an animal or alien. Sure, that's likely true, but that might be a hint of things to come.

So Arisu is trying to think from the killer's perspective, rationalizing that likely only the more athletic players are left, but also in fear of them fighting back like cornered animals. Right as he's saying this, Karube and the other two start their counter attack. xD Karube used a fire extinguisher to kill the vision to start with, then threw it at him to create more disorientation. After taking cover and hearing some bullets wasted, they through a jacket too, to have him waste the last of the bullets, which was the moment the wrestler guy grabbed him in the choke hold.

At the same time, Karube is repeating that he doesn't hear anymore gunshots so they're good, only for him to realise that he never heard any when he left Arisu, which made him no longer want to risk his life here, before he snapped himself out of it. As things seemed to be going well, Karube called out desperately to abandon the plan, feeling like it was going to fail, and Arisu would've objected if he was there.

This is where the guy holding himi was shot. The guy is built like a ******* tank, and was carrying more than a single weapon anyway, so that foresight was their fatal oversight, leaving the two others now dead. Karube of course, got away.

2 minutes and 4 players remain - Arisu, Karube, the rock climber girl and the other male killer. Arisu must be part hawk to notice bullet holes so far away. LMAO. He figured that the area was shot from overly far away, so has concluded it was to keep people away from that area, meaning that's the door to open and the base is inside. Karube is immensely relieved to see Arisu alive. LMFAO **** off, the other killer guy of course somehow already knew where the room was, but is only now entering because they need everyone they can. Why not just say to start with and let as many get there as possible?

The killer blocked Arisu's route off, then Karube, the absolute legend just jumps on his back ready to die. He falls/pulls him down stairs with him, and it seems to have injured the killer, leaving the other players in a good spot. Karube then vaults over the railing and is just going to jump onto the lower floor to get to the base. The door Arisu was eying up has opened, so it should be correct. Man, Karube is an absolute beast.

Chapter 9 was good. Well, at least it's confirmed that door does hold the base, and is correct. No shit they, they weren't going to run out of time and die.

Karube did catch the lower railing, but hit his chin and fell backwards, and despite being nowhere near the railing below it, he managed to grab it. Before he could pull himself up, the killer spotted him, only for the second killer guy to shoot him, but fail spectacularly because he's never shot a gun. I wonder if he's actually killed people as he claimed, or if he's just larping.

Oh **** off, lmao. They put two bases that need to be touched at the same time in the room? Also, I guess I misunderstood the rules of the game, I thought that each person had to touch the game to pass, not just a single person. 19 seconds on the clock, with no one in sight. I assume the girl will come in clutch.

Yup, she scaled the building and got to Arisu in 10 seconds. It was a bit obvious, as there was no other choice. xD They touched the buttons at the same time, with no time left and the game was complete. The killer was wearing an exploding collar around his neck which detonated.

Everyone is elated to have finished and survived the game. Arisu now has a total of 7 points. Apparently Arisu now cares that he killed a killer, which I feel like doesn't really fit his character, but eh. The girl was the one to say that they were both responsible. We finally get her name too, Yuzuha Usagi.

Karube questioned why the other guy saved him, and he explained that to win the games you have to bet on the right people, but also he might call a favour in some day. His name is Shuntaro Chishiya. Apparently, he also didn't get the gun from a game, so I wonder if it was brought there externally, or if he killed someone to take it, etc.

Ok, so mister brains presents a few possibilities for borderland. Either they're in the future brought there by some futuristic entity, it's some bad dream/nightmare, they've all gone crazy, or, it's some alien science experiment. Basically, shit I was thinking of. His own theory is that they somehow stumbled into a fantasy land.

LMAO. Is Chishiya a chuuni? He thinks if he "becomes the protagonist" he'll find the way back as a "main character". xD He recommends listening to the radio, as it persists. He specifically recommends the taxi driver channels.

Arisu offers Usagi to join their group, but she declines. I thought she was a new player? But she just says that once you're attached to people, it's harder to survive. Sticking together eventually pits them against each other, forcing them to kill each other to survive. I did think that would happen eventually. Arisu and Karube finally reunite happily with Chota and Shibuki.

I had no idea you could do that, but Chishiya is smart. He's harvested the cards from the dead participants, I guess he gets their time/points that way. It explained why he did nothing for a while, letting others die so that he could increase his own survivability.

@Phenom 9 chapters is volume 1 done, so not sure if you want to leave it at that for this week period, or do the full 10.

It doesn't matter. He said it himself, he couldn't calm himself down. He would still be shaking, his shoes would be making noise and I doubt that the mask obstructs sound as well as line of sight.

Idk, i feel like no one is hearing a heart beat in that scenario, and generally you can shake silently. But yeah, point is he calmed down enough to the point he was basically "invisible".

Sounds good. He might've got busy so may just be us. So will go on as usual from the next period

I mean, we've already discussed that they had arrows flying with pinpoint accuracy from several miles away and falling with little to no dispersal.
