[AR] Baccano! Discussion Thread

I know I have skipped a day, blame @Shirou for getting me onto Trove.

In all seriousness, use the time to catch up if needed, this afternoon I'll post up episode 8.

Episode 8

"Isaac and Miria Unintentionally Spread Happiness Around Them"​

 

Then I won't spoil, because we're definitely going to see him again later on. At that time, his identity will definitely be revealed.

One of my favorite episodes. I love how Isaac and Miria literally spread happiness just by being their jolly, eccentric selves. They managed to lift some of the weight off of Ennis and Eve's shoulders, and ended up giving Jacuzzi the courage to stand up to the Rail Tracer, albeit in a very roundabout way. I also like how their actions in this episode can be considered one of the catalysts for Ennis' actions in a later episode.

Immortality backfired reeeel quick lmao. Ik the old guy was shady from the start. Nice enlightening episode

Miria and Issac funny as always "Live in the moment"

 

I really liked this episode focusing on Isaac and Miria. There are a few small moments dotted around the episode in which you can notice that they are actually quite skilled, despite their personality and happy-go-lucky attitude. It may seem like they are lucky at first, but I severely doubt that they could have gotten by this well without having some degree of skill.

That's because Szilard's vice is greed. At first he didn't believe in the existence of the demon or the immortality elixir, but once he became immortal and the three tenets were laid out for them by the demon, he realized that he could possibly obtain all the knowledge there is to have; his curiosity as a scientist got the better of him. One of the purposes of the imperfect elixir that he created with Gretto's knowledge is to inject people with it and then immediately devour them in order to obtain all their life's knowledge and skills.

The reason he has gone so far to create the true Grand Panacea is simply because "he wants to know" the formula; there is no greater purpose to his actions.

Lml so basically he will never be satisfied. Even if his plan full succeeded it would just be a big "then what". Ofc he could just go take knowledge from randoms but there would be no point. Kinda like just having something just to have it

 

Lol, basically, yes. He would simply continue to devour until he was satisfied -- that is, if he could ever sate his appetite.

However, the reality is that Szilard is just a small fry in the bigger scope of things. If he hadn't been devoured when he was and kept sticking his nose into things, trying to learn more about the dark secrets of the world, the 'keepers' of those dark secrets wouldn't hesitate to erase him. Now, the fact that these 'keepers' I've mentioned are easily capable of erasing him implies that they too are ..... well, perhaps I've already said too much.



I'll also try not to touch on the devouring part too much since we aren't up to that episode yet.
