I return to the study to head through the door!

 

You lock yourself inside your study once more. You go over to the locked door - and brought your PD up to the device reader. The door beeped, and slid open. It was dark inside.

I decide to walk into the room using the wall as my guide

 

You raise your right hand towards the wall and trace your fingertips across the surface. As the room curved outward, you found the light switch. You flicked it on, the and room lit up slowly. In front of you seemed to be the real armoury. To your left was a huge array of weapons, and on your right was an open wardrobe full of everything you could even hope for. Eager to ditch the overalls - you picked out what felt natural. Combat boots, trousers and a t-shirt. You looked at yourself in the mirror at the back of the room. You didn't notice before - but your body seemed to be covered in a lifetime of scars - which only seemed to add to your handsome, rugged appearance. You ran your fingers through your greying hair, and found your thoughts wondering back to Umbra.

I sort through the weapons taking note of any that may be useful

 

You search through the weapons on instinct - and end up holstering a pistol and securing it around your waist. It'll do for now.

Looking around the room i try to see any other features of the room

 

I check the gun to make sure I have proper amounts of ammo.

 

You looked around the room to make sure you didn't miss something. As you did this, you checked your gun for ammo and then re-holstered it. You remember the log in screen on the monitor back in the study.

I head back to the login screen to input my name

 

Thinking about it now, you realise how un-secure this password was in normal circumstances. You tried various different combinations if your name until one of them finally stuck. You are greeted by a welcome message.

If you're seeing this then hopefully you're no longer Human.

Your stomach turned. You definitely needed to sit down for this one.

If everything went according to plan, most of the Unknown should be free from their cells, and most of the humans are either dead or being hunted down as you read this. If everything went extremely well - you should be with our darling Umbra right now. I can't really tell you much - I was told that giving myself the whole story during my Unknown Awakening would run the risk of implanting false memories inside of you. You know you must have questions - but you will just have to wait until your memory comes back.

When your Awakening is complete, your human memories will be lost forever. The only memories you will retain are the memories concerning Ashgate - the memories you have of your time with other Unknowns. I was also told that your powers would be slightly unstable until this time as well. Don't try to use The Otherworld consciously. Don't strain your body before your Unknown strength has returned. And most of all - do not attempt to use any magic.

Lastly - and I can not stress this enough - do not share your real name with ANYONE. Your human name is your power. It is the same for most of the Unknown. It is really a thing that is better left forgotten, but I wanted to at least keep one shred of my former life intact.

You were a little angry. Now that you had read this, it was clear that your former self had set up this scenario for you. You couldn't help being bothered by this. And was Umbra in on this too? You had questions.

Well only one thing for it i go out tonthe main room to question umbra on the contents of the document

You go out into the main room, Umbra still playfully watching along. You turn off the monitor and sit down on the bed. Umbra slides up behind you.

"Is... something wrong?"

What do you know about the freeing of the unknowns umbra? What do you know about me?

 

"You... read the letter?" she probed gently. You nodded back in reply. "I probably can't answer anything you don't already know...."

You sighed. Your head was still throbbing, and it felt like your horns still hadn't stopped growing.

"For now, I'm your protection. Four of us were given very specific jobs to ensure that you - The Caretaker - would remain safe until your awakening was complete..."
