    That makes most sense for the 3080ti. Wouldn't wanna bottleneck it.

    Yeah, but if it has to do with the TPM thing, I don't think older CPUs support it.

    Yup. A beast GPU needs a beast CPU.

    This reminds me...

    A cousin of the wife has a desktop with an i7-3770K and a pathetic GT 730. The i7-3770K can take GPUs all the way up to and including a GTX 1060 or GTX 1650 Ti (GTX 690 equivalents). I told him last year to upgrade if he wants to do modern gaming, but he was unable to get his hands on a decent GPU. Now it turns out he might get his hands on a GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1060 for practically nothing. I know those GPUs are old, but considering he's getting them for next to nothing...

    Any CPU from 2015 onward should support TPM 2.0. The problem is that there are some security and virtualization requirements for Win 11 that are supported only in Intel 7th gen and Ryzen 1 onward.

    I thought Pre 2017 was TPM 1.2 or whatever, but that makes sense. Pre 2017 must be the thing you're mentioning here.
