Honest question why do you guys think Bleach is getting adaptation now for its final arc rather than when the manga ended back in 2016.

Was it becoz Naruto was making loads of money and SP thought they would be fine without it or was it something else

 

No black clover so they need another thing besides burrito

 

The one interesting thing that I took from watching some of the boruto eps is that pierrot tends to seriously change certain events rather than just prolong fights like in the old days (vote, naruto vs pain etc). I remember when they were fighting that shrinking guy they changed the fighting choreography completely and the order of events was different along with the whole thing lasting much less than I expected. Iirc in the manga it lasted 4 chapters or so (each chap 40 pages) when in the anime it was all done in 3 eps and turned out a lot better. Who knows, maybe they cut out tedious parts and make the fights sweeter.

 

They can still do Black Clover as seasonal. It has like 60+ chap currently unadapted.
I believe Boruto not being as popular as the expected it to be has probably to do with it.Also trying to turn it into cashcow they probably fucked up others shows which could have been kept going good like Twin Star Exorcist or Tokyo Ghoul

 

Pierrot actually adapts the Manga content pretty good especially when the expand upon it.
Neji vs Hinata,Sasuke vs Naruto Vote and Vote 2(This was just 100 times better than manga) or Sasuke vs Itachi.
They do tend to **** up a few like Naruto vs Pain second half but probably becoz the blew budget on Hinatits filler fight.

The problem with them it most of their fillers are subpar targetted at 12 y.o and the plots that will make zero connection to manga and contradict focal point of manga.It is for casual fans who won't complain about anything like Ostrich Ninja story etc

 

We already got an interview with Bleach's director and the character artist a few years back where they said basically: We want to work on Bleach but the execs have us busy with other projects. They also won't allocate a budget for Bleach anime.

That's the gist of it. Studio execs cucked the anime continuation on both budget and staff allocation.

Pierrot has done that with Bleach as well to an extent. They have extended various fights and also added new ones.

One particular fight that comes to mind is Shuhei Hisagi vs Findorr Calius. The anime version of that fight is immensely superior to the manga version, and the music by Shiro Sagisu only adds to the whole thing.

We do have confirmation that the last arc anime is going to have new fights that were relegated to off-screen in the manga and that on-screen fights are going to be extended. I just hope they don't do a Toei and have people just powering up and/or screaming for half an episode.

What I find hilarious about this whole thing is:
Bleach was still minting money for them all these years despite no anime. It was selling 3+ times as many copies as Boruto despite no anime (because that's what anime are for manga - big budget long-running ads for the manga) and was also minting money from the microtransaction-ridden BBS game, and they still ignored it all this time.

Forget about the whole Naruto/Boruto vs Bleach thing in terms of story/characters. The monetary aspect here - that Bleach was minting way more money for those fucks, and yet they still ignored it for this long - is monumentally stupid on their part.

I noticed that the BBS game saw an uptick in popularity after the Blood War anime announcement.

Man, how much more money they could have made

 

Probably Bleach wasn't as profitable and Naruto was dominating Studio Pierrot. I mean Bleach TV rating dropped of the cliff before it was replaced on by Naruto SD literally.
Naruto was also very big outside Japan.It had like 70 million copies in circulation back in 2014 and 100 million approx now outside japan
I mean only thing that matches Naruto in USA in new generation is My hero Academia which has like 10 million circulation for VIZ for like 30+ volumes compared to that Bleach has like 2.7 million circulation for 74 volumes.

Also in France which is another big western market Bleach has like some 6 million in circulation which is not bad but very low compared to OP,Naruto or Dragon Ball and even Fairy tails

Pierrot probably though Bleach was not getting Bigger than it was and they can milk Naruto with Boruto.I mean even with Gazillion fillers it's probably their flagship

Well that's probably becoz Boruto's peak sale was it's vol 1 while Bleach was doing fine till vol 40 i believe. It dropped like 50% for yearly sale after that.

But since it went from 1 million to 500k it doesn't look bad but was a significant drop.Pierrot probably thought it won't pick up in popularity again

Eh Boruto is probably second largest money minter for Pierrot after Naruto.Bleach is on top 5(10 year of absence of anime) but they probably are running with it since Black Clover wasn't as big(I mean it dropped out of top 5 after anime ended).I mean it's fine but it's definitely isn't some kind of monster.Also it might have done better if Pierrot went with seasonal approach but it seems like Pierrot doesn't want to do that for manga adaptations

 

Yeah I get that Disney factor.

Disney has been literally spamming Nostalgia content for quick money like crazy and then going after Bleach show they have seen huge market outside Japan.
But Bleach was never big seller outside Japan like Naruto or even One Piece.
I believe probably the massive rise of manga industry is something Disney see it can exploit with Nostalgia. The question is will they stream the first 366 episodes to or will it only be TYBWA.

The good part is since entire manga will get animated so Bleach fans probably has nothing to lose from it
