I find it so great when I read something and see panels of characters being young and seeing them change through the years.

I find it so fascinating. Like this panel of Shanks and kid Luffy, sounds corny but mate, seeing Shanks with kid Luffy brings me back, idk, Shanks fascinates me with so little, even 2 panels of him after years makes me happy, sounds stupid because 2 panels of a character every 3-5 years or so sounds so little but the pure image I got from him when I was little was so impactful to me.

In the very first chapter you get the sense of badassery and absolute funny cool character and no matter how many chapters I've read in between not seeing him and no matter how many characters I've seen in the meantime, Shanks will always be THE GUY.

I don't think I've read a manga where I find a character with such little "screen" time so amazing.

And seeing Luffy being smol and now being a yonko is such a wonderful moment.

The idea of Gol D. Roger giving the SH to Shanks and Shanks passing the same SH given by the King he adored to Luffy is just amazing.

Before I realized, I wrote a book lol



TL;TR - Shanks is a top tier character
