Yeah, he would have had a few words for lavish weddings. Would have whipped some motherfukkers.

It's a problem with Indian society. Every dumbfukk wants to outspend his neighbour and show off. There are some aspects of Indian society that are just sick.

Yeah. And, as I noted, they will take funds from loan sharks to fund a child's wedding.

    @Gobb
Parents in this country will literally bankrupt themselves for a lavish wedding.

I wouldn't even recognize half of these people. Lol. Not to mention that i would rather spend the money on a house you'd buy with your wie, or anything else. For that wedding they paid 68k € for.

68k euro? That's three years of rent for a posh three-bedroom apartment in a posh area of Frankfurt.

Still works out way cheaper than a middle class Indian wedding though, after adjusting for PPP.

    - When you don't own what you "purchased".
    - When you get ads after paying a subscription for a service that sold itself as ad-free.
    - When you can't enjoy a show you like due to censorship.
    - When you can't find a show you want to watch due to it being geo-restricted or even outright banned in the country.
    - When your money that they take doesn't go to the creators and authors, but to boardroom parasites.
    - When things have gotten so bad that even the creators/authors of the game or show or even the books you like support piracy. Yup, it is that bad.

    Good afternoon, Monkey Nuts.

I would actually pay for services like netflix if they didn't use DRM and served high bitrate files that could be downloaded locally and played freely across devices, and they couldn't revoke the said licence at any time. It'd be like if your car self destructed once it hit some arbitrary travel cap.

Subscription services were a mistake. They should be banned outright.

Oof... Buddy... Cars are now coming with subscription-based services.

    - Tesla is asking for a subscription to unlock the full range/capacity of the electric vehicles' batteries. They are also considering a tier-based subscription plan for charging speed of some models. They will also consider locking you out of your own car at any time, based on certain conditions.
    - BMW is asking for a subscription to use the heated seat feature, and may introduce subscription for breaking/ABS features.
    - Volkswagen refused to share (with the FBI no less) location details of one of their cars until the parents of the kidnapped child in said car paid them a fee to access the data.

I am not making this up, brother.

I heard about some stuff. It's wild. Yes, x as a service is as anti-consumer as it gets. I think it may be "ok" if it's simply an option and there is the ability to "own" the thing or obtain it with cost in place of the subscription. But there definitely needs to be some sort of regulation.

Regulation? Shit, man, this stuff needs to be done away with outright for certain things. A subscription-based model for just watching movies is bad enough. But a subscription-based model for personal vehicles, security systems, software in devices you own, GPS and other location services, safes & bank lockers (yes, this is a thing) is just bonkers.
